When you've got something relevant to post about Target coupons, please post about it in the Target coupon thread! We'd love to hear about it, but NOT about your dog, your cat, your mom, your genital herpes, your... well, you get the idea.

Quote from bigauditone :
Also here is a list of eligible FSA expenses - batteries for hearing aids are included
https://www.fsafeds.com/fsafeds/eligibleexpenses.asp
I do FSA and it saves me loads of money. .
Nice list.
Quote from sbhiggins :
FSA programs differ from company to company. Anyone who's starting out with it will need to check and see how their company deals with it. For instance, I know that if you work for a Catholic school, for example Teehee they won't reimburse for birth control.
We have one of those debit card things for our FSA, which is awesome. No submitting receipts at all. Big Grin
FSAs are regulated by the IRS. They can not differ from one company to the next as long as the account is funded fully by the employee. So, regardless of where you work, they have to reimburse you according to the list bigaudit posted.
However, if the plan is employer funded (MRSA), then they can control it how they wish. At that point, it's not a true FSA, because the deductions are not coming out of your paycheck
Quote from Jen2882 :
For those of you with flex accts.....i know you pick an amt at the beginning of the year...like 1500....then is that amt divided by the # of checks you get each year and thats how you pay it out???
That's correct. However, your employer will set a cap of say $1500. You can withhold up to that amount. Then as you said, the amount you elect is deducted, pre tax, into equal amounts out of each paycheck.
The amount of your election is available to you on the first day of the plan year (which can be different from employer to employer). If you incur an expense on the first day of the plan year, the employer is required to reimburse you the entire amount of your expense, up to your annual election. Even though you have not had any money withheld from your paychecks.
Quote from doublesided :
check first on the FSA-only some companies allow rollover to March 31, some still make you submit by 12/31
DS is correct, every group has their own plan year. You can only come onto the plan during open enrollment. And you cannot make changes outside of open enrollment unless you have a change in status (marriage, divorce, birth of child, etc).
Quote from teri037 :
That's how mine works Jen, but do check into it first. They've made some changes. Used to be if you didn't use it all w/in the year, you lost it. Now it rolls over. At least mine does. It's a good program but it pays to study up on it first.
All FSA plans are "use it or lose it." Some employers have adopted an extension of 90 days which allows you to incur expenses 90 past the end of the plan year. However, this is not standard, and don't assume that is in place. If you have not incurred your expense and have receipts dated before the end of the plan year, you will lose any extra money in your account.
There is also a HSA, which is a little different. You must have a high deductible health plan in order to set up a HSA. The amount you contribute is pretaxed but that will roll over from year to year.
Hope that answers some of your questions. PM me if you have more specific questions. I have been dealing with FSAs as part of my insurance group for more than 10 years.

I found a new Maybelline $2 off peelie that doesn't expire until early 2010. It was on the mascara. I think it is a navy colored peelie.

People have also mentioned the $1 off Softsoap MQ, free Chinet dessert plates.

Gotta get to bed! Going to try to drag the kids with me to 2 Harris Teeters tomorrow, do two runs at each store. Not all my Qs have come in, so 3 of the runs will be very quick, the fourth is thrown together from Qs I already had and can use. I hate having to bring the little ones with me, 'specially since we were out all this morning shopping, but this weekend is crazy busy for us and there may not be time in the evenings. Anybody else get mommy guilt when it comes to shopping with little ones? Little ones being toddlers...
I'm hitting 2 Teeters after work tonight. Gonna be a long weekend! I always felt guilty dragging my kids around shopping, too.

I've never had one that rolled over - they've always been "use it or lose it"
Should have said "carry over" instead of "roll over" (thinking cell phone) If I don't use my funds by December 31, I have until March of the following year. Used to be I had to use them all by December or loose them.

I've done this at Safeway - was so steamed at the treatment over coupons that I used $25 of cats to buy a Cheesecake Factory gift card. Then went to Cheesecake Factory and had to wait over 3 HOURS - from time food was served until check was brought. Ridiculous. But complained and got a $35 gift card out of that. Big Grin The gift that keeps on giving... laugh out loud

Oh well. Deals are deals, and there are things I NEED to get, so must just suck it up, I suppose. Smilie
No guilt at all, kids learn from going out with you. They learn vocabuary, shopping skills, life skills dealing with others. I almost always have at least one child in tow when I shop,it is just part of life,I don't generally leave because of a melt down either like some people, I simply can't I live to far away to "just take them home". We do things for them, and we do things for mommy and we do things for the family it is a great learning opportunity.

And you know, some of my earliest training moments in coupon usage was going with my mom, grocery shopping for our family of 13, every two weeks, where her budget was $200. Valuable lessons for sure. But at that point, I was like 7-10 years old, so could get something out of it. Not sure my 3-yr old is learning anything other than the fact that Harris Teeter has free samples! laugh out loud

They really do learn, my 8 year old is a miser with his money and he is always shocked at how much I get for so little money. There was some game in an ad that was $20, he said "I bet mom could get a car load of groceries for that". laugh out loud

I went to Kroger with him the other day and had about 4 bags full of groceries, the total was 1.05 and he was EEK! . The best part was that the JJ rang up the wrong price so I got the difference and the $5 "reward" for the overring. He was laughing that we came out with more money than we went in with. laugh out loud

Isn't that always the best?! Big Grin I wish my stores had the $5 reward for wrong prices. Seems to happen just about every other trip here, regardless of which store I'm at.

So is anyone else getting the free coffee smoothie at Smoothie King today? I'm going to try it - it doesn't really sound right, but I'm assuming it will taste something more like a shake than a smoothie. I'll give it a whirl. Smilie

I cant remember how I found SD, but I love it and all you guys here. Warning this coupd get mushy.

I met an SD'r who was posting here and lives close to me and we have been great friends since. We shop at least once a week together, watch each others kids and hang out too.

I have had all of you be so nice to me, esp with my kitty and in general.

I have gotten several pm's about helping my mom. I am ready to share her story here.

My mom and little sister (she is 9 now) moved to Florida about 5-6 yrs ago. She was living in a trailer when teh 3 hurricanes hit the coast that year. Her trailer was a total loss and they lost everything except what they could pack in the car. Her boyfriend, who is my sisters dad is a farm worker and my mom was cleaning houses.

Here comes the stupid part, my mom out of desperation, stole a credit card and went shopping. She was caught, and sent to jail for 3 years. She missed 3 years of my sisters growing up, and there was a lot of problems w me and her over her choice. She served almost her 3 yr sentence. Well she has always had anxiety and deprssion problems and they are really bad right now. She tried to find a job, but who wants to hire someone w really no experience, and has been convicted of theft. She never greaduated high school, she was pregnant w me. She stayed home or worked side cleaning jobs my whole life, so no real eexpience.

So she cant get a job anywhere. Her boyfriend is a migrant farm worker. I do their taxes for them and they make 6,000 a year, thats it. I pay more than that in taxes. She is living the bare minimum, in a broken down 1 bedroom trailer, that her boyfriends work owns. If he were to lose his job they would have nothing. They have been eating spaghetti a lot, and hitting up the food banks to survive. I mail her a package every month w toiletries, razors, toothbrushes and that kind of stuff.

I feel bad for my sister, she is only 9 (haha I am 35), and has to live like this. I do what I can, but my Mom has made a lot of stupid choices that put her where she is today.

When I go down, I am bringing the baby in hopes it cheers her up. Plus my Aunt lives down there too and is in end stage colon cancer. So they will see the baby. I will grocery shop w coupons to load her up as well. She just doesnt understand how to save money and spend it wisely. So I will at least be able to load them up. I am also trying ot get the resteraunt gc's so I can take them out for dinner too. I saved up all my Target gc's from Kashi and others to do some clothes shopping for my sister too.

This will be a vacation for Ryan and I as well. We are staying w my Aunt and Uncle from my Dad's side and they have never met the baby either. We are going to Disney (thanks to anepu) and the beach.

I am looking forward to it!

So I just wanted to thank everyone for sharing their runs and deals, sharing coupons, and most of all sharing friendship.

Told you it was mushy

Ah, Stormy, I don't know what to say.

It is wonderful that you are not judging her and her choices, and are helping her out. I coupon more as a hobby then a necessity, but is a good reminder that many people even in our country survive with so little.

Please, please post a list of items that you would like to shop for, and we will flood you with enough coupons where your Mom can start her own foodbank!! hug

Stormy, you are an Cupid2. (That's supposed to be "angel" not cupid. Smilie) I'm so happy for you and Ryan that you'll get to see your mom and your aunt.

I need to go get dressed and grade a billion quizzes before class today, but your story just made me tear up again. Easy enough to do normally, but now that I'm pregnant, pretty much happens every day. Embarrassment

Lisa thanks for the kind words. My post was not meant to ask for coupons but just a shout out of thanks, I did get a few pm's offering me stuff.

I am good on q's right now, will have to look when the trip gets closer, and can look at her ads and such. At the very least she can have some appetizers, lol

Oh and by the way, I am totally suprising her.She never goes anywhere, so I knwo she will be around. I just plan on calling her from outside and asking what she is up to and ringing the doorbell, and letting her go answer it, and the baby and I will be out front. She will be so excited!
