What's the point of SLI GTX 1080's with a FHD screen?

What's the point of this thing in general? You going to be lugging this 13+ lbs i-watch-big-bang-theory-look-at-me machine to Starbucks...I mean LAN parties? Rather build a desktop @ half the price.

I travel a lot and am a game developer - I can never have too much power. But for that price, I'm all set with my 970m on the go. I'll leave the really heavy lifting to my rig at home.

They did it because they can. Also, you could use a video out port.

To this point... all that power is already going to drain the battery fast enough... Perhaps it was done so that it also didn't need to power a 4k display figuring most gamers would probably have 1+ 4k monitors to hook up to and could accept 1080p when truly on the go.

1080 is the model number, not the resolution capability.

Ah, this explains what I missed. I thought he meant it wasn't capable of 4k output.
