It may be a blessing in disguise.

My son lives in appt..sharing with someone else....he is not handy in the least...and causes much more work for me more often than not. This I will have to do on my own. It's alright though...it's how things have been for 15 years or so.

It is too much to keep up on my own...but the taxes have gone absolutely out of control.

I saw an article recently about the number of people challenging their tax appraisals being at record highs all across the country. It's overwhelming city governments all over the place. Taxes go up up up, and don't stay in line with what the actual market value of your house is.

If you think it's excessive, you could try challenging it.

I thought about that too...I should look into it even though they don't use the true value of the house to base them off. Dontknow

I addition to saving you money. Having a lower tax rate would make your house look more attractive to a prospective buyer, if you do sell. It sucks that you have to sell but think of what you'll save on maintenance costs. That and you'll have more free time, since you won't be cleaning/maintaining such a big house.
