been debating these, the fostex t(leaning towards 20)rp, or the 400is.... such a headache. for the record, zeos released the 560 version this morning.
and as far as voice chat goes, modmic?
The Fostex T50RP and T20RP are rather light on the low-end if that is your thing. The Hifiman 400 and 400i have ruler flat bass response. Great if you are an audiophile .
Here are three links to Frequency Response Graphs for various headphones..Fostex T50rp and T20RP graphs are available at the innerfidelity link..
When it comes down to it, a subjective review is just that. Do I like this headphones sound or not. A review that contains no measurements like Frequency Response, Step Response, Impulse response, impedance graphs etc does not really tell you much.
I'd rather see a review from someone who knows what theyre talking about than to see some measurements. Also, measurements are highly variable based on the quality of the measurement system.
This zeos guy doesnt have measurements and doesnt have a clue what hes talking about in terms of audio quality. He's pretty much just like most people on head fi
For those that care, Zeos reviewed the M560 the $200 planar magnetic from monoprice. Looks promising for the M1060.
I love the cable from the M560, but from what i can see in the picture on the m1060 it's a twisty copper wire type that looks like it will stay in shape unlike the fabric sleeved ones on m560..... but damn i'm so lost right now. part of me wants to buy the m560 and the m1060 and just return whichever one i like less. the wood is so sexy...!!!!
The mids are liquid, the highs are sparkling, the bass is firm and controlled, and instruments and voices are clearly spaced in a wide and deep sound stage. Like all top-quality audio gear, you will find yourself immersed in the music.
Monoprice sent out a coupon for $20 off $200. It's valid today only.
Just spoke with a sales rep who said these headphones are exempt from the coupon savings.
She said that they had over 600 in stock yesterday morning and are down to below 100 today.

Headphone measuring equipment is prohibitively expensive for many hobbyists outside of a sponsored site. A sponsored site has an assumed bit of bias in order to stay sponsored. Unfortunately, until there are easier and affordable headphone measurement setups, we're stuck with the above two options for the majority.
Now with earphones, that is much easier and affordable to do for a Frequency Response Graph.
The 400i aren't some godly planar, they're good yes but I enjoyed the original HE-400 over them. The HE-400S is also a good option. I'd be very open to the Monoprice offering. As far as HD600 I'd hold onto them. They are like you said tried and true. But if you're looking to downgrade from the Senns the Philips SHP9500 is very excellent for the price, in fact, you might find it a hair more comfortable than the Senns because the Philips are so light.
not to derail but: the he-400 have a really fun sound, weighty bass and all that. But the comfort is terrible compared to the 400i. 400 sound in 400i body would be a huge winner to me. But I listen to mostly electronic and the 400 excel particularly with those styles.
Lots of complaints already from those who have received their 1060s.
It has to do with the cable connection. Read about it starting here: http://www.head-fi.org/t/820107/m...phones/690
