Q&A from the promotion page:
  • How do I get the free add a line promotion?
    • Starting March 1st, for a limited time only, anyone activating 2 unlimited lines on T-Mobile ONE, and existing customers with at least 2 voice lines on T-Mobile ONE or Simple Choice can get 1 additional line for FREE after bill credit.
    • All free lines must be activated during the promotional period and you can keep the promotional pricing as long as you maintain qualifying service and line count. Customers may take advantage of this offer in addition to other offers and promotions, including 2/$100 and Carrier Freedom.
  • Who's eligible for this promotion?
    • New customers, current customers and employees are eligible to receive this offer as long as they are on a qualifying rate plan, have two paid voice lines, and an account in good standing.
    • Customers with one voice line will need to migrate to T-Mobile ONE and add a second paid voice line to qualify for the FREE Line. Qualifying new and existing @Work customers may add one additional qualifying line on us for a max of 12 lines total.
  • How does the offer work?
    • The free line will match your current paid voice line data, i.e. T-Mobile ONE customers will receive a FREE T-Mobile ONE line and similarly, Simple Choice customers will receive a FREE Simple Choice line.
    • If your lines have varying amounts of data, the free line will match the line with the least amount of data. Existing customers with two paid voice lines get a free line whether you're adding a smartphone line, tablet line or wearable.
    • In most cases, you will see your free line credit on your first bill. If credit is not applied on the first bill, two credits will appear on the second bill.
    • For customer's not on the new T-Mobile ONE taxes and fees included plan, taxes/fees may be applied to pre-bill credit price. A maximum of 1 free line can be added per account.
    • If you cancel service on one of your lines within 12 months or migrate to another plan, you will lose the monthly bill credit for the free line.
  • Where is this offer available?
    • Anywhere that T-Mobile offers new lines of service, including T-Mobile retail stores nationwide, and authorized postpaid dealers.

Read this if you're on a Simple Choice plan -- which Simple Choice plan and how your data is achieved makes a huge difference in what you'll get and what will be free. (All T-Mobile ONE plans come with baked-in unlimited data so these issues don't affect those customers). There are a ton of variants of the Simple Choice plans:

- 2GB voice line
- 2.5GB voice line
- 4GB voice line
- 6GB voice line
- ...
- Unlimited voice line -- This was available starting around March, 2014 and ran until roughly January, 2015
- 2GB voice line + data package -- This was available until around February, 2014
- *GB voice line + data package
- Possibly more

On some Simple Choice plans, the data is included in the line itself. On other plans, the line is fixed at a set data amount and unlimited data is achieved via a data package (the underlined version up above). Take a look at the difference in wording between the two plans:

Simple Choice Promo, this plan includes:
- Unlimited talk, text & high-speed 4G LTE data while on our network.
- Two lines for just $100 per month; add more lines if eligible for $40.00 per month, per line.

Simple Choice, this plan includes:
Your choice of additional high-speed 4G LTE data.
Two lines to start; add more lines if eligible for $10.00 per month, per line.

On the Simple Choice Promo, the plan itself comes with unlimited data. On the Simple Choice, the plan comes with 2GB data, and additional high speed 4G LTE is a $20 add-on.

The 'get a 3rd line free' promo (like the '2 lines on us' promo from November) only applies to the voice line itself, not the data package. Many people have the plan where unlimited data is part of the plan/line itself -- for these people, "Add a line" is unlimited and $40 (see wording above), so they receive a free unlimited line with the promo. For others, like me, the "plan" was 2GB and the unlimited data was a $20 add-on -- my "add a line" could only ever be 2GB (and was $10) but I could add an unlimited data package for $20.

I had kept the latter for years because I could add a line and get unlimited data for $30 ($10 + $20) instead of the other plan where it would have been $40. The net result for me was that I had unlimited data, but how I got there was different (and cheaper, which is why I kept it).

If your Simple Choice plan is structured such that your unlimited data is an add-on package, not part of the plan/line itself, you will not receive a free unlimited line. You will get a 2GB (or 2.5GB on some plans) line for $10, and you will only receive a $10 bill credit. If you add-on an unlimited data package, this will not be credited/reimbursed.

Source: Hours on the phone with T-Mobile yesterday (3/2/17). Long story, but a phone rep told me to do something which, once I did it and called back an hour later, rendered my account ineligible for *all* free line promos. They had to get with management and promotions to fix my account since they had a record of me being told that. It was through that process that I had all these quirks explained.

It seems like T-mobile is dedicated on fixing the credits, see post # 420 by Rayfire

What is T-Mobile Hook-up code ?
The T-mobile Hook-up Code is a code employees can apply to 5 different accounts for a 20% discount for life, it was given out to all T-Mobile employees for new customers only w/ eligible port in. See details here https://www.reddit.com/r/tmobile/...00_update/

If I have my own sim card, do I have to pay the 25 dollar new SIM fee?
If you have an unused sim card that can activate on T-Mobile postpaid then no you don't! Just call in, say add a line when prompted, then say no equipment needed to purchase. The rep will then be able to add the line free of charge, you will need a credit card for verification purposes though. Simcards that have been previously activated will not work.

*************

T mobile reps are giving sim card for $ 3.99, with tax 4.29. As per customer rep they just got instructions to reduce the price to $3.99 from $25.00

STAY AWAY! Many of us did not get Magenta Friday free lines credits YET! We are still fighting with them every month to get credited for these lines...
Yes, so far I have called every month to get free line credits. Pain in the arse
Add me to the boat of people calling each month to make sure the credits are applied. Every bill is painfully confusing.

I have a Select Choice family plan with 5 lines. Cost for the first two lines is $100 with unlimited LTE data. The other 3 lines are $5 each with no data. Do you think they will let me keep the $5 add a line fir the 4the and 5th lines if I switch to this new plan? Thanks.

Will the Kick Back still work with this promotion if I use under 2GB/Month?

So if I add a 3rd line to my 2 for $100 plan, enable kickback, don't use the new line, will it automatically take off $10 each month?

Also, anyone know if this has any affect on the 20%?
