Note: The only system languages natively supported by this tablet are English, Spanish, French and two Asian languages. If you want to use a different language, you have to dabble with ADB/Debug mode and use apps like these:

This will change *most* aspects of the OS to the desired language, but not all. I.e. the settings menu will be unaffected, as will the lockscreen and quick setting tiles, for example. But apps will usually honor the new language setting.
I confirmed this on my Trek2 HD K88 from the previous deal, which is now (mostly) set to German.

The bootloader is locked by ZTE. You can't install recovery, can't root the system. No decent ROM available.
Without community supports, it will be a pain in the ass soon.

What date trick did you do? I've set the date forward after failed update attempts saying that I am up to date just to get around the waiting for 24 hours before checking again, but not sure if there is another trick I should try.

- left on charger, turned on (no SIM installed), tried to update. said latest update
- changed date, restarted
- went to update again, said update available, successfully updated
then it put in my TMO SIM and unlocked

I can't believe there are so many updates between my current one and the latest update. Mine states security patch date of June 2016 and build number ends in B11.

i put the date as april 5th. it worked on the first try. others have said they need to change the date multiple times.
pick a new date, make it april 10th or something. reset the device. try again. if it still doesn't work, change the date again putting it further forward, reset, try again. rinse and repeat until it works

Most can only be disabled but not removed.
I managed to get it updated.. from b11 to b33. I tried everything with and without tmobile sim with no luck...even did factory reset..only after I put my att gophone sim in did it update.to 31. still had to change date to b33..but it's done...and as expected..don't notice any difference.lol. oh well..it's done

This tablet does not have a traditional dialer or cellular radio setup, so calls can only go as VOIP. I don't know of anyone who got a standard Android dialer to work.
I used Google Hangouts Dialer to make a couple calls and it worked ok. But, some here said Hangouts Dialer didn't work well for them. I don't know whether you can set up Hangouts to receive calls to your cell# or if it only works with a google voice#..
