That's too bad. I use them in all of my vacation rentals and have had zero issues. Each home has 4 nodes in it. I love the system and can control it remotely.
XT12 never goes on sale. Best you can get is the Amzn $650 and keep checking for a $50 coupon that pops on it once in a while. So $600 basically, but no one ever catches that on here because it's a coupon on the page. Randomly comes and goes.
That being said, XT12 blows XT8&9 away. It also has way better 2.4ghz, which tons of devices still run on.
If you can afford, XT12 hands down. Otherwise XT9, or wait for some other better wifi7 device.

I just got the xe75 pro. It's pretty good, but it doesn't give me the fastest speed on 802.11n with an old 2012 MacBook Pro. It went from 270mbps to 200. 802.11ax and newer all work correctly. I doubt there's any way to improve this and could be due to hardware limitations.
Previously I had a pair of ASUS ac68u routers in mesh mode. They didn't have 802.11r standard which caused my wireless devices to have slow switching from one node to the other. This was a headache to deal with on wifi voice and video calling, and laptop use. The 802.11n speeds on my laptop were faster.
I can't seem to find if any of the newer ASUS devices have this 802.11r fast roaming standard or not. To me it's important, so at the moment I'm sticking with xe75 pro to see how it works out while I still have a return window available.
Edit: For what ever it's worth, both the TP-Link and ASUS were set up using wired backhaul. The TP-Link I received was hardware version 2.6, which I bought off of Amazon.

When I tried using this mesh system two years ago, Asus XT8 dropped wifi connection for my Mac multiple times every day. I wasn't sure if it occurred to my Mac only or other devices too because the connection came back within a second that might hadn't been noticed by web surfing or streaming use. However, when that happened to my Mac, the VPN client my employer used appeared not to tolerate that and disconnected every time, so did all the dozens of SSH sessions I was working with. I contacted Asus support, and they recommended to use a fixed wifi channel rather than what was in the default settings. That configuration helped a bit, but didn't eliminate the issue completely. I ended up to return it on the last returnable day
