Was at Walmart and this drive is on clearance for $27 (bought one at Walmart just a couple weeks ago on clearance for $40). Seems to be in-store only ($48 online). There were 3 at my store, not sure how widespread this is.

Some other drives that have been spotted with the yellow tag clearance:

WD Black SN850 1TB Gen 4 NVMe: $60 (might be in the PlayStation cabinet)
WD Black SN770 500GB Gen 4 NVMe: $29 or $31.50
WD Blue SN570 1TB Gen 3 NVMe: $42

WD Black D10 8TB external drive: $108 (allegedly can be schucked for an HGST enterprise drive within)
WD Black D30 500GB external SSD: $35
FYI, this is what the average great Walmart employee thinks of someone asking about inventory from Brickseek.

Lol, that is an interesting thread, thanks for sharing. Like, I understand that some (a lot) of customers are probably awful, but c'mon - if I'm just asking you them to simply check if an item shows in stock with their in-store scanner tool, is that really that much of an inconvenience to them? Like, that's specifically part of their job description, to help customers find the items we're looking for.

Anyway, interesting insight into the mentality of a Walmart employee (or at least some Walmart employees).

I picked up two of the SN770.. not even sure why as I think 500GB is a bit on the small side for an OS drive (in 2024) and definitely for mass storage. Maybe for a dedicated Linux boot disk or just to have a couple extra m2 drives on hand if a relative needs a drive.

In any case, appreciate the post as I am regularly in Walmart but really never think to check the electronics section.

I mean I worked at Walmart for 10 years and no we weren't supposed to scan a barcode that isn't Walmarts nor can we take the word of a third party website for instock on products. BUT as a department manager if I was asked if there were more in the back I would always scan the label on the shelf or go in back to look for the customer. And yes brickseaks inventory wasn't 100% accurate. But that's because Walmarts inventory is never right if you don't have competent managers managing inventory levels which is 90's of people in those positions 😂

Always good to hear from a competent man on the ground. Honestly I think what most people want is the truth. Everyone wants to believe conspiracy theories and most of the time it just boils down to generic incompetence which is the type of thing we see at all of our jobs.

Nothing at my local walmarts. One doesn't even have anything on clearance. One store had open box likely a return wd and some crappy PNYs on "clearance" but it was more like regular price.

Bought 2 SN 770 500gb for 29 each at first. Then bought 2 SN 570 1TB for 42 each. Then also fount Samsung T7 Red 500gb for 32. Bought 2 of them and returned SN770. Bought all of them to use as external ssd anyway. T7 works good with my iphone through power ligtning adapter, SN570 with my enclosure doesnt. But SN570 works good on android without any power.

a lot of these are showing up on ebay around $40 now
probably people snagged them at walmart stores and
and now trying to turn a profit.
No profit there at $40. $40 - 13% ($5.20 ebay fee) - $4.20 shipping is to much hassel and risk to make just a few bucks. Also if we get 1099 on ebay sales you will have to pay tax on all of it again. Ebay costs are out of hand and the real winners are the taxmen.

Yeah because cheap Millennials and GenZ nerds are known to be so polite and patient LOL

They have a job to do, and it's not to kiss Brickseek users' asses.

100% support the Walmart employees on this.

Thanks!

Simi Valley, CA Walmart. Had my oil changed this past Sunday and went into look at stuff while waiting. Found 1 TB WD Blue NVME drives on clearance for $44.00. I bought 2, there were 3 left.
