There is an infuriating amount of literal trash in this, especially plastics. The rest is mostly mulch.

My assumption is that miracle gro licenses this out to different manufacturers regionally (I doubt they're shipping dirt cross country). If you're in the northeast, open a bag or two before you buy an entire pallet.

Soil is a funny thing. When you start making your own you realize that soil is just a medium. Each sort of marketing grade has finer particles, drains better, has fertilizer, etc. The differences are mostly real, but not as important as you'd think.

That said, now I just buy the cheapest soil that i can find and amend it.

I picked up 15 bags from lowes, all bags were filled with trash (rocks, large sticks, short pieces of coax cable). Not 1 bag had what I would expect from a miracle gro brand. I wonder if the company has any quality control measures/checks from these local distributors.

What type of brand soil is recommended for Lawn seedling? Top soil I got from HD contains mulch and other stuff, which almost killed my new baby lawn wherever I spread. Please provide the link please

Arg, literally bought 18 bags from Lowes two days ago @ $2.29 each. I knew HD would have this deal around this time but decided to grab some from Lowes as they had the B3G3 deal. Along with other deal websites, this deal was misleading. Everyone, myself included, thought with this promo, it's $1.15 per bag. Turned out it was basically half off at their regular price. Went to Lowes CS to adjust price and was told (rudely) that I already got the promo price.

I will be getting more from HD this time.
