Pedestrian specs, but plenty useable and pretty decent for the price. Stuck with 8GB RAM, but the 512GB SSD is a nice plus at this price. Currently available for shipping, but ugh ... $19.85 shipping for me in IN. Save that by picking up in store if you can.
Unfortunately, Soldered LPDDR5 means it's NOT upgradable.
I don't see where anyone has been able to confirm it's a TN panel. Even if it is, this is a $250 budget laptop... they had to make some cuts. This would still be a great deal, even with a TN panel.
According to Lenovo's website, this model number corresponds to the 300 nit IPS panel 45% NTSC. If this is accurate, this is a pretty great deal if you're only doing productivity work. IPS, backlit KB, touchscreen, 11hr battery life, 15W 8-core 👍

People still don't learn. This is Zen 2. RAM or screen isn't the issue. You are better off getting that $350 Elitebook from a Microcenter with Zen 3, metal chassis. 3 year warranty.
Zen 2 vs zen 3 isn't that big of a difference for the kind of work this laptop will be used for.
I see the TN panel and 8GB Ram Police are in full force here.
Right, they're a "little" hyperbolic, I have an older laptop with 4gb of ram and slower processor and it does just fine, my current desktop came with 8gb I upgraded to 16 and I can't a difference.
I wish this came with 64gb of ram, 4tb ssd and a TN panel but I also know that this is a $250 laptop.
Anyone know of a decent 14" deal with 300+ nits, 16 GB+ RAM, backlit keyboard, charging over USB-C? This is getting close but low fixed RAM might be the killer for me
The good : IPS screen lighted keyboard usb c charging - just picked one up
The bad : the touch pad is not great
The ugly : non upgradable memory 8gb (5.8 for the system 2.2 for video ?)
Battery?
You don't get a usb charger you get a barrel style charger.
Yes this is definitely a IPS panel 300nits I could not find in it in the Lenovo documentation on Lenovo website. The actual model number is IdeaPad Slim 3 14AMN8 this is a great find if you can live with 8 GB of memory. I been using it for 2 days it snappy and has excellent battery life around 7-8 hrs. Just a head's up if you decide to purchase check the warranty date they had it expiring in September just go online and contact them in the registration section I emailed my reciept and they reset the warranty.

But ; work to me means engineering an media production. I bought a Dell off here that they/Microsoft killed the sound output/recording abilities an introduced lag to it. Making it not even legit for watching movies (which I don't do but sometimes put things on while working in the other room) . An i dont expect it to produce an edit 4k vids. I mean simply recording an playing back music or meetings audio recording an video if I'm pressing my luck . By work do you mean working your hand while looking at hotties on Instagram or running a cash register software?
I'm definitely running the video out to a dollar tree projector usually. So I'm not expecting Sony 8k TV set quality there. But I need it to have basic functions ; like microphone that dell/Microsoft nerfed on the only thing I could afford last year.

If this was under $200 8GB would be OK pill to swallow.
I miss the old one by Mercado.
I miss Frys as well.

This is the better deal
2 in 1, touch, much better CPU and SSD and RAM is upgradable
also, it's a budget laptop. Just because it's a budget laptop doesn't mean you should buy garbage. This $300 vivobook is amazing
for $30 at the same microcenter your picking the vivobook up from, you can install an additional 16Gb (24GB total) in five mins
