Bought this one a month ago as I needed a can opener for a new place.

Not sure how it compares to the high-end can openers (or what those even are), but it's the nicest, smoothest and easiest one I've ever used.

I have this and less than 5 months of use, it becomes showing signs of rusty.

Buy now before it becomes a T-Mobile can opener.

I am deeply suspicious that this "Original" product actually existed before 2022. I bought my EZ-DUZ-IT in 2013 after wearing out several Swing-Aways, and yeah, it's rusty, but it still opens cans just fine.

The only stainless steel (not chromed) can opener I've used is on my Swiss Army knife, and since I don't have arthritis yet, I'd prefer to use it over these goofy blimp handles - I think I also threw away a Kitchenaid with those somewhere in there.

Yes, exactly, this! Bought one of these side cut types (no idea what it's really called) last year and will never buy the old traditional top-cut type again, this is better in every way, no idea why they even still make the old type

Well, you two have definitely got me sold on trying this over the "Original Gorilla Grip".

I've been using this one by oxo for a very long time, works great, comfortable, and good as new after 5 years. Very easy to operate

Ok, I might be overselling it just a wee bit...
More seriously: there's a bit of a trick to using the side cut/safety-cut type can opener correctly, which took me a bit to figure out, as there were no instructions with it - with a normal can opener you'd put the can on the counter and press down on it - with this kind you essentially need to do the opposite - clip the can opener on the rim of the can, and then lift the can up a bit with the can opener so that its weight 'hangs' from the can opener, then open as normal - will work like a charm, faster, easier, cleaner, safer, and can lid can be reclosed. If you try to do it the normal way you'll think 'hey, this thing doesn't work at all! those guys on SD lied to me!' And we definitely don't want anyone thinking they can't believe what they read on SD Wink

As far as I can tell, this thing does the exact same thing as turning the standard can opener the other direction. Even my cheapest standard can openers will do the lid removal thing, and has the guide tabs for it.

I don't understand why every can opener doesn't have a magnet on it to get the lid. Even the side cut, whose lid shouldn't be sharp and shouldn't fall inside, should still have a magnet if for no other reason than to grab a lid without getting food on my fingers.
