work for you?
I just called. The two eligibility requirements were stated to me as follows:
1) Must get at least 1 or 2 bars of 3G/4G signal in home (by a window at least)*. If there is no signal to begin with, there is nothing to "boost". 2) Phone bill must be at least $50. My plan is above $50 but below $50 below discounts, and apparently I was eligible, so maybe YMMV depending on how closely the rep looks into it. *The way the booster works is it has two pieces tethered together; one is placed by the window or wherever gets the strongest signal while the other is placed in a more central location of the home. It was very easy, they didn't ask for anything else but YMMV as others have stated. |

The sprint airave isn't a signal "booster". You connect it to your wifi and essentially turns your cell phone into a wifi phone. There's no need to run an antenna. Not sure what they gave you but it's not the airave.
The rep didn't want to give free shipping. It seems depends on your luck getting a nice rep.
It does sound like a repeater but let's see when it arrives.
They confirmed that this will work with unlocked phone, so I think this should be the newer model.
At first they thanked me for being a 3+ years customers and then everything went very smooth.
I wonder if they are giving it because of the length of the account since some seems couldn't get it.
However, it *probably* gets a better signal than your phone does. I haven't actually used one, but given the entire purpose of the device, I'd be very surprised if it doesn't have an antenna superior to that on the typical phone (and since it's plugged it, it can afford to work its antenna hard, where phones try to turn down the power to spare their batteries when possible).
Antenna quality does matter. iPhones and the Moto X typically see better signal quality than most other phones because they have dual antennas. (IIRC, Moto X was tested as about the best out there LTE-wise a few months ago? iPhone improved their arrangement a lot after iPhone 4 had serious connection issues with the signal failing whenever people put their hands over a certain spot on the phone.)
Edit: Forgot to add that, on top of what I mentioned above, a repeater can be positioned in a relatively optimal location. Windows typically have better signal than elsewhere in a room/home. If the signal is okay at the window but inadequate elsewhere, you can put the repeater there and now the home has adequate signal to make calls without having to stand in front of the window all the time.
These things mainly exist to assist your ability to make calls. They're not really focused on your data signal, so the focus is on making sure that the signal and speed are adequate (which doesn't require a huge amount of bandwidth).

Wasted 30 minutes on the phone with those idiots.
That seems odd, can anyone confirm?
Was told that they would have the engineers look @ the area/towers see if there wasn't anything they could do to better the signal from the towers or what not. (I should mention that he did verify my address and to see what kind of coverage I have there--turns out I'm at an 'in-between' area -lol- basically I am in my car outside, and have 4gLTE, I get into my house..and nothing ~.~'') Apparently there were already 4 other complaints for the area I live in, that were 'ahead' of me, and so instead of the engineer business taking 3-days, it'll take until tomorrow to see if there are any improvements or not. If not they'll go ahead and send me the Signal Booster/Repeater (call it what you will), CS Rep, did tell me that it was free of charge, but there would only be a $6.99 fee that would need to be charged to my CC at the time of ordering it.
I'm supposed to have a call back sometime on Sunday from CS Rep, told him it was ok to go ahead and do that, he said that he wanted to get it taken care for me, again it did feel like he genuinely wanted this to work out.
I'm just about sure this will be sent out my way though, -shrugs- so I have to wait until Sunday for my order to go through that's fine ! Will totally be worth it!
