I heard some small stuff, didn't see anything. it was pretty quiet for the most part. there were about 10 people on the terrace when I got back, and one of them asked me about a laser show. IIRC, the laser show was Cedar Park's response to the fireworks ban laugh out loud, so I have no idea what they expected to see from our terrace in downtown Austin Ohmy

I just bought a ticket on stubhub for the Davis Cup, bought a ticket for the Saturday doubles match, should be pretty darn good seats, I hope. after fees and everything, it was ~$110. still cheaper than face value, the three day series is on sale for $420, or $140/day. and I like doubles tennis, unlike many people laugh out loud at the very least I should see the Bryan Brothers play, fresh off their Wimbledon title.
Wow, that's crazy expensive. At least you got a better deal. I sucked at tennis, no hand/eye coordination while moving around the court, although I was good at baseball. Dontknow

There was a fire here caused by a family who set off their own fireworks display then decided to clean up before going to bed. Only problem is, they put the still hot mortar shells into the back of a truck that had some unused fireworks in it. Yep, the truck fire spread to the house and now they're homeless.

Bump it's about that time. today has flown by pretty steadily. I suppose the first day in the office in five days will do that laugh out loud spent a bunch of time tonight working on stuff for my professional group, too, which didn't help matters much.

tomorrow I get another trip to San Antonio, I've got a 2pm to 4pm meeting again Whee going to be smart this time, and eat a slow dinner somewhere between SAT and Austin, rather than being stuck in the worst of Austin's rush hour

was watching TDF, then burn notice, then got sucked into reading a website:
http://www.newworldeconomics.com/

originally for the stuff on 'old urbanism' and traditional city designs, then I got sucked into the political and financial posts. fascinating website, I think, but I should probably keep my mouth shut after that.

and now, time for bed. Davis Cup tomorrow, think I'll take the bus there and walk back, the Erwin Center is about 1.3 miles from here, so it should be a pretty good hike home.

Bump anybody home today? look around been super busy day. watching F1 debrief in the morning, then went to the Davis Cup event way early (I was there ~12:30 for the 2pm start). Davis Cup was a blast, so glad I got that ticket. I was sitting directly behind the USTA officials and their invitees, had great seats, in essentially the 7th row behind the court, even with the edge of the court. it was a very good doubles match, the US won 6-7, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4. took about three hours, had some very competitive games and some great points, I enjoy how fast doubles tennis moves, with the quick reaction volleys and such Whee
then I went out for dinner with some friends, and came home and watched F1 qualifying Sheep not sure why they didn't send out Hamilton, that seems like the sort of mistake Ferrari would make laugh out loud
now trying to catch up on TDF coverage, although I'm not paying super close attention to it shake head

more of the same tomorrow, watching US women's world cup, F1, TDF,

Our plans were drastically altered because the bridge on 520 was shut down all weekend for repair/construction work. So we drove up to Duvall and went to a used book shop. Then drove back down through Carnation and Fall City just for the scenic drive. Stopped and had an early dinner at the pub then picked up groceries and went home. Tomorrow DH is firing up the grill and we're having fajitas. yummy

Sounds like fun. woot

DH is going on a bike ride in the morning and I have to go pick him up when he's done. The hills close to our house are too steep and big for his current level of fitness. There's no way he can do a long ride and at the end make it back up onto the plateau under his own power. He used to cycle all over the hills and mountains of Ireland but is out of shape now. Guess that's what 10 years of living the states does to a guy, too much good food. laugh out loud

Bump another day has flown right by. I got up, watched the US women's world cup game, nearly had a heart attack at the end of it, went to a get together my friend was having for the afternoon, came home and watched the F1 race, talked to my mom for a bit, and watched Tour de France coverage. crazy, crazy sports day, I have to say. the world cup game was amazing. in F1, Lewis did a great job to make up ground after terrible qualifying session. didn't get to see much of the 6-12 positions race, which kind of annoys me Mad at least there was actually stuff going on with the change in tires and weather and the pit stop issues.

TDF was also way crazy, still can't believe either of the two big crashes Ohmy shake head

not supposed to happen that way, that's for sure.

and now, getting ready for bed. I need to be a bit early to work tomorrow, darn staff meetings.
