I am wondering if other people who activated over the phone eventually got their plans switched to the right one and how long it took? I Or am I SOL for trying in the first place? The rep said the plan would change and I had to get the device protection that could be removed online at any time. I did remove device protection but I'm still waiting for the FREE plan switch the rep promised. The terms and conditions she read were for the FREE plan.
I heard about this deal about a week ago. Deliberated. Ordered an eligible phone for in store pickup from Target (because they only had one in stock and I didn't want to get there and find out they'd sold it or it was impossible to find). Tried online, got the unable to verify message. Called Sprint, spent about 20 minutes attempting to complete my order. We got disconnected as the rep was verifying my shipping address. I had provided a call back number at the beginning of the call, so I waited overnight. No call back.
I began to get cold feet, since I'd had to call in, so Googled, found this thread. Decided it seemed common, and since I'd already pulled credit, decided to try again the next morning.
Had to restart the process. Spent about 40 minutes with George, but he seemed to have a handle on things. Assured me several times the SIM would be 100% compatible with my phone. Only charged me $12.95 (I was expecting $12.99+ activation upfront), when I asked about it, he said waiving the activation fee. (Didn't explain the .95 rather than .99, but whatever.) He told me when I received SIM "in 1-3 business days" not to call back, he would track order and call me. We synched time zones and arranged when he should call me. He took my email address and gave me an order number that should start working online in 24 hours and would include tracking number.
Monday, I began to worry as I hadn't received a conformation email, and the order number he provided didn't work. Live chatted with two agents, neither of which were helpful. However, that afternoon I got a text from FedEx that I had a delivery coming Tuesday.
SIM arrived about noon Tuesday. I waited for George to call. He never did. I finally called back. Got Maria. We spent over 20 minutes on the phone, "only problem is, that SIM isn't compatible with your phone." She advised me to go to corporate store, get a free SIM. She'd call me back. We synched time zones. (She never called.)
I cancelled prior plans for the evening, went to what I thought was a corporate Sprint store. "We don't do repairs, don't have SIM cards." I went to Best Buy Mobile, they only had the Sims I'd received, but said all I needed was an adapter. Went back to Sprint to verify. They said no, 1 they couldn't help me, I needed to call telesales again and 2 even Telesales can't activate SIMs that aren't compatible with the phone, "the system won't allow it."
I couldn't get to other corporate store before it closed, so considered giving up. However, I made an appointment for 5pm today online, and showed up to give them one more chance. No customers were in the store when I arrived a few minutes before 5.
Rep helped me right away. Tried to give me two SIMs--unfortunately, the same item I received from Telesales. I made him double check. He insisted he checked, so they had, manager said they worked for my phone, just bed an adapter. I said Telesales refused to try to activate because incompatible. He said he could give me SIM cards (no charge) but I had to call to activate.
I called and got Edina. She was super nice, patient, and apologetic that SIM was incompatible. She tried everything. Looked up my order number, verified they'd sent me the wrong SIM, escalated, asked for supervisor permission to send a new SIM...meanwhile, when I realized going nowhere, I went down half a mile to Best Buy. They said they had the right size SIM, but not for my phone. I remained on hold as Edina tried to get a replacement SIM sent to me, so Googled, found results of other people reporting what SIM they used in my device on Sprint, went back to the BB clerk, asked if they had that item number, he hunted through and found one. I asked how much, he said $4.99.
I purchased from him just as Edina came back on the line, and I asked if she could try a new SIM number. She agreed, it was compatible, we completed port. She was super nice, very apologetic about the problems, thanked me for my patience and for becoming a customer, confirmed I was getting the free year, read me T&C, gave me a new order number, and thanked me again, and was all around better than anyone else I dealt with at Sprint. If they were all like that, they'd have a better company. I was on the phone with her over an hour, the vast majority of it was dealing with incompatible Sprint card (We flew through finding my account, confirming imei, and porting info, but got hung up on the inability to use the SIM they sent me). I had a confirmation email (including order number) but the time I hung up, and my service transfered about ten minutes later.
TLDR;
I ported from Cricket using brand new Motorola G4 Play I got from Target last week and "simglw236c" I bought from Best Buy because Sprint themselves can't find any. I've logged into online account and everything seems to be in order. Bonus, I now have three Sprint Sims that are incompatible with my phone. :-p
I had finalized my order on 6/17, wrong SIM shipped via FedEx 6/19, arrived 6/20. I received an alert from Experian on 6/19 as well, so it was a hard pull.

What should I do? Wait it out?
