Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.
Can I cancel after the first year?
Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

some people were able to reuse sims. if its compatible with your phone it should work.
How did they go pass the 'buy the sim' step? After I provide the phone number and IMEI it just says I have to buy the sim.. Pointers appreciated.

you will need to call in the promo number if you use your own sim.

you can buy the sim to avoid talking to csr and then activate online yourself. however, I think it only allows you to activate from one carrier account and lock you out if you try to activate multiple carriers by going back to website and tell you to call the promo number.

Can I order a SIM with an IMEI and phone number and use it with different phone and/or different phone number?

When will my phone number from other carrier (t-mobile/vzw) ported to sprint. While ordering sim or activating the SIM?

Correct. They can force it though if they know what to do. Like I wrote, it worked for me. If you want to go easier, have no service on the phone and just use a Google voice number to port. I also did that.
I am at the same situation, wondering if I need to deactivate my cellnuvo account, then contact Sprint? But then I will lose the phone number required for free one year plan. I did contacted Sprint, someone said she can unlock my Nexus 6 even though I tried my best to explain "just to change MVNO flag or device ownership from PLBL to SPCS", she still didn't know at all, and kept asking if I can give her permission to unlock my phone???

WARNING: IF FREE LINES DO NOT HAVE ADEQUATE USAGE ON THEM, SPRINT MAY SUSPEND ALL OPENED LINES AND REQUIRE YOU TO CALL THEIR FRAUD DEPARTMENT. Be sure to use the lines once you open them (unclear how much "usage" is required).

This happened to me and it was a ****ing headache getting them to reactivate my lines since I did not have access to the phones on the account/used placeholder IMEIs. Once I told them this, they flagged my account as "suspicious" and forced me to go to a store in order to re-activate. OFC, once I did that, they FORGOT to activate all my lines and only reactivated one, so I had to go back to the store AGAIN to reactivate the others.

and OFC the store employees have ABSOLUTELY NO INCENTIVE to help you since these lines give them zilch commission. So they give literally ZERO sh*ts about you.

you've been warned.

So call in to sign up altogether? What number did you call in, if I may ask? Thanks.

No idea, but I opened on 6/22 and it was flagged inactive sometime before 7/4. About 1.5 weeks. I had literally 0 calls, 0 text, 0 data cuz it was on a placeholder IMEI.

Credit Karma pulls from Transunion and Equifax. I also checked my Credit Karma and it did not show any credit inquiry from Sprint.

However, I checked my credit monitoring service and it did indeed show a hard inquiry from Sprint with Experian.
signed up for free Experian report and found Sprint Inquiry there. Found 2 inquiries infact. tried first online then, when it asked to call them did it over phone.

I need to check if my credit cards if they show me experian reports. I think they do not,

They may be flagging more recently opened lines due to concerns for "fraud", I speculate its from all the "referrals" that people may be doing (even though I did not use any referrals).
