Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.
Can I cancel after the first year?
Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

I wouldn't be surprised if Sprint big wigs extended the deal yet again. Either they haven't signed up as many as they hoped, or they're trying to make their number of subs looks even more attractive to a buyer. It's kind of telling that they still can't ink a buyer.
Article came out yesterday saying that Sprint approached Charter to buy them.... I think they got turned down...

Anyone know if a Moto E (2nd generation) that was used on Freedompop can be made to work with this deal? I would like to use it to add a third line. Would that switch I keep seeing references to have to be flipped for it to show as eligible? Could I use the Freedomop sim card or would I need to get a new one?

Thanks very much! I will try when I get home. Only question is the ownership flag on Reddit? Not sure what you mean.

Update: Ting site shows eligible for 2g, 3G and 4G LTE but not CDMA. It's an A1662 SE
What is the actual order number? The generic model number is useless when trying to identify a specific iPhone.

Quote from SlickDealingInNYC :
For those who completed porting and activation to this plan, do you get 3G instead of LTE at certain locations where you usually get LTE with previous provider?
It's all about local Sprint coverage. If you're in a populated city, expect slow speeds. But free is free! Wink

Quote from reader :
Good point! Thanks
1) Moto E2 and 2) LG Tribute Duo Pass both Ting and Swappa. Does that mean it passes FED? Is there any other FED check?
There is the FED check and then there is the inventory flag.

Quote from akhere :
Experts. Is there any way i can activate boost iphone on sprint postpaid. dna or unlock or wgat/how.
Please suggest.
Have you used the phone on Boost long enough to clear the FED flag and have Boost unlock it?

If so, it'll work w/o issues.

Quote from djsluggo :
Why are they Asking me for account and PIN number for my current carrier. Why would I ever give an entity my PERSONAL Identification Number??? Sounded shady.
How else do you expect to port a number if you refuse to identify yourself as the account owner?

Quote from hodaddy :
Just curious. Were those gsm numbers or cdma numbers from FP?
All FP numbers are VoIP numbers. The CDMA lines have underlying Sprint numbers assigned, but those are not used for calling. The GSM lines don't have numbers assigned, IIRC. The numbers given to customers are VoIP.

Quote from SDRebel :
I'd forgotten to do this, does anybody know if we have to buy by 31st or activate by 31st? i wouldn't get it on time, but i do have old sprint sims
Register and purchase a SIM on the website today and you're fine.

Quote from flaxman85 :
Are there different kinds of SIM I'm not aware of beside the size factor (nano, micro, etc.)?

If so, which SIM kit am I supposed to get in-store for this deal?

I came across a couple of people saying they need to return to the store to exchange to the right SIM when failing to activate over the phone.
Sprint currently has about 18 different kinds of SIM cards (and that doesn't include discontinued SIMs).

Order from the website if you want ease of use. If you try to buy from a store, you're on your own.

Quote from SlickDealingInNYC :
Is it too late to order SIM to receive it by Monday 7/31 to port and activate?
If you register and order the SIM on the website today you should be fine as you'll have an account in the system.

Quote from man01_shs :
So I just checked the deal website. It says the offer ends July 31st but in the fine print, it now says savings until 9/30/18 instead of 7/31/18.
Hopefully this means we all get 2 extra months of free service.
Your plan is your plan. If there is an extension, the new plan will be under a new SOC code which would be different than what you have.

Quote from gr8scottaz :
Not sure why I'm late to the party but here I am. Has anyone been able to port successfully from Cricket to Spring with no issues? My IMEI and phone number were a "success" on Sprint's eligibility page but I don't know if Cricket is excluded from this deal or not, since it's prepaid vs postpaid. If I'm going to jump on this deal, I need to do it quick before Cricket charges me another $70 tomorrow. Also, if I'm eligibe, can I just go to a Sprint store and pick up a SIM as opposed to having one mailed to me? I have a Sprint store right down the street.

Thanks!
Pre or post doesn't matter. Underlying network does.

Quote from willygee :
sprint store giving free SIM has not been my experience. I called several places (may or may not have be corp store) but each one wanted to either charge me $5 or couldnt give out without activation and most did not have the sim card i needed (for galaxy s8+).

I think best bet for free sprint sim is bestbuy or apple store (at least in my experience) but YMMV.
Sprint will give free SIMs to current customers who are switching devices on an existing line. Sprint does not hand out free SIM cards to non-customers. Sprint's stance is that if you want a SIM, it is available for purchase.

Apple will give out free SIM cards for Apple devices because it is serving Apple customers, but those SIMs pretty much only work on Apple devices.

Quote from OldMissionPeninsula :
Now for the best part, after you do all of this your LTE should give you 0.69 Down vs. the 1.04 on 3G you can not make this up while you are on this network.
At least it says LTE Applause
Outside my house a different story, I got up to 21.90 Mbps in the center of town. Finally a number that matched my H2O Wireless indoors.
Speed is all about location. Sprint in NYC and SF is slow. You're lucky to get 1mbps. Out in less populated areas you can get better speeds.

Quote from pokerpro1973 :
I think they are bulking up postpaid subscriber numbers for future sale/merger. They haven't improved their network at all after being the worst of the 4. Increasing load on their already sub-standard network is not going to help at all.
Yup. This promo is not a moneymaker for Sprint. It's all about sub numbers for the financials.

Quote from Lovegasoline :
I've exhausted all strategies to obtain an inexpensive iPhone and also a cheap $89 refurbished Moto 4 for this deal ... and now there's only two days left!

Therefor, I plan to buy a new unlocked Moto E for $129 (16GB) from Amazon Prime with one day shipping (phone is ad free. Perhaps later on I can find a cheap iPhone deal and then sell the Moto E).I currently use Cricket so will use that number to port. (I'll also need to put in a request to my credit reporting agencies to unfreeze my accounts).

Regarding the SIM: what steps do I need to do to be eligible for the BYOP deal? Do I need to have the SIM on hand when signing up for the BYOP deal, or can I sign up and get the deal first and then later obtain the SIM?

So much SIM confusion ... can someone quickly recap the quickest/cheapest way to obtain the SIM for this phone, and exactly which SIM to use?

Thanks a bunch!
If you have an eligible phone in hand, just purchase from the promo website.

Most of the SIM confusion and issues are caused by people trying to save a few bucks, who then end up spending hours on the quest for a "free" SIM. Big Grin

There is no contract for the free plan. Switch whenever you want.

A few years ago with T-mobile, I had switched to a phone requiring a nano. I took the old and new phones to the downtown T-Mobile store expecting to be charged until the guy said, "It's on the house". Those are the kind of good faith, good karma gestures we need more of these days.
Both TMO and Sprint will give you a free SIM to enable you to swap to a new device if you are a current customer.

Quote from Verniculous :
TMobile has changed, no more free SIMs.
This is not true if you are a customer. TMO happily provides free SIMs to existing customers if needed.

Just go to empty your urinal bladder & get a good cup of coffee (or your favorite drink), since you will be hooked on the phone w/ Sprint BYOD promotion team for, at least, 60+ mins. Then call: 866-782-8777. And, ask for the device (your new Moto-E4) & SIM activation. Prepare to get all your personal info, for the credit check & ID verification.

Yeah, for me, Sprint activation process is much more pain than a root-canal procedure.
Yeah, hour plus is about right if you do the phone thing. Web is so much faster.

No they have really cracked down on that. Only if your current SIM isn't working and you are simply doing a SIM card change do you get a free one. If you are switching devices to a BYOD, then no.

BB will match the ad version price of 99.99 They may or may not ask if you have prime. Give it a try. I just showed it from my phone
Gave it a try and although the sales associate OK'd a price match with Amazon's listing as viewed on my cell phone, her manager shut me down ... she said they don't price match to Amazon Prime because it's a 'paid for program that offers discounts'. The Amazon $99 price for the Moto E is a Prime-only deal for the version that comes pre-contaminated with stupid Amazon Ads, although I don't think the manager even saw that critical detail. The price for the regular non-Prime Moto E without any ads is $129 at both Amazon & Best Buy.

If at first you don't succeed...
I'm in NYC so the next BB was about a 5 minute bike ride. There the sales associate said the $99 Moto E didn't say 'sold and shipped by Amazon' on the listing (she didn't raise the 'Prime' issue) so they cannot price match. The wording was a little different, 'Sold By Amazon'. (I began to wonder at how malleable, vague, and arbitrary their price match terms were, as if each sales associate and manger was a little Best Buy pseudo attorney interpreting the policy in their own fashion depending on what the customer presents). I didn't want to get into a semantic war with her. Instead, I asked her where she ate for her meal break and if there was any decent affordable food in the area. As we chatted about her favorite food, I showed her my cell phone after I placed the item in my Amazon shopping cart where it displayed the text: "Sold by Amazon LLC". She said that's fine and she paged her manager to approve it. He came over and seconded the burrito recommendation and approved the price match without asking for any details whatsoever. I also bought the Boost Sprint SIM package for $10.

So got it price matched for $99 (saved $30 & tax).

Now, crossing my fingers that the credit freeze unlock on Experian, Equifax, and Transunion goes through by Monday ... and Sprint approves the account (I researched all over the place - including Sprint's finance department and people who have had credit checks run by Sprint in various parts of the USA, but found no conclusive answer regarding which credit reporting agency Sprint will use so unlocked all three: a $15 fee) .... and finally that the call to Sprint to register the phone for the deal is not too exasperating.

Thanks!

Thanks!
TFW you write up the Slickdeal and someone else gets repped 🤣

JK glad you also got the price match ☺️

He also told me the taxes and fees that we pay are per account (and not per line), so even with 5 lines the taxes and fees would be the same as 1 line. Can anyone confirm this?
Of course it doesn't work like that. You obviously talked to one of these PHILLIPINO brain dead parrots.

Freedom Pop and Cricket both use Att's network. Att owns Cricket. They have more voice coverage than all of the other major networks. Not only that, but they claim to have more 4glte coverage area than Sprint or TMobile. Cricket's prices are as advertised. All taxes and fees are included Hodaddy. When you get the app, you can switch plans at anytime of the month and they prorate it for the duration of the month. I wouldn't get one of their crappy free or cheap $50 phones. Half the time I'd make a call and the other party couldn't hear me. I put the sim in my IPhone 4 and had no isssues.
I had no idea Cricket prices included taxes. Good to know. You would think they would market that more in their commercials like tmobile. I'll probably go to Cricket 4gb or AT&T 6gb next summer. I reckon their plans could be even better a year from now.

i found this site fairly helpful for finding the right SIM for your phone (or do search on this post):

https://help.ting.com/hc/en-us/ar...r-SIM-Card

since you are in a time crunch, I would try a store to get it. I had luck at the bestbuy mobile area - they just handed me the SIMs that I needed (others have poo-poo'd this but if BB is close, just walk in and ask). If you have an apple product seems the apple store will get you what you need for free. Also, bought one from a sprint store for $5 but ended up being the wrong one.

Which is another tip - make sure you tell them the exact model you need, wherever you go (ex - SIMGLW416Q its printed at the bottom the SIM credit card thingy).

If you end up trying Sprint store, seems like finding one that is a corp store is key. Better to try and call these stores so you can cover ground (I wouldnt call bestbuy - mine has like a call center intercept and they said they dont have SIM cards in stock without even knowing). Again ask for the specific model not just "do you have a SIM card for XXXX phone" - thats how i ended up getting the wrong SIM initially. Good luck!

SIMGLW416Q should be SIMOLW416Q !!!
That's the SIM I have in both of my Moto-E4s.
