On another note... have you or anyone successfully re-used Sprint SIM cards? I have a few from when I was with RingPlus. From what I've read, Sprint SIM cards can be used if not currently active.
If you have other lines with T-Mobile without a promotion, you may be able to get them to move the promotion to save it (I've seen them do this) if they're nice enough.
I would not waste my time on a used sim card. If it doesn't work then you just wasted your time and day.
Can I setup a new byod account over the phone? I already have sim cards from the apple store and eligible phones, so don't need anything else.

It's on the back of your phone. Very tiny print: model Axxxx. T-Mobile/AT&T version should be A1778 or A1784. They do have Sprint LTE Bands (25, 26, 41), just don't have CDMA EV-DO Rev. A (800, 1900, 2100 MHz) .
