I was told that I must wait 120 days to swap out phones for ones that I already own. I didn't even ask. The rep said that doing so before the 120 days would cause that line to be charged the regular rate. I asked what if my phone broke or was lost or stolen. He said I'd have to report it lost or stolen so they could blacklist it or whatever in their end, and as for breaking it, take care of it or get insurance.

So he's full of it and I'm free to swap devices anytime through tech support?
Are you mentioning that your on a promo plan, or that your on the free for a year plan when you talk to them? If you are, don't. I just added a line using an iPhone, then after 1 hour I chatted online and switched to a Sprint LG g5.

Just do online chat and tell them you want to swap devices on your line ending in xxxx. Don't need to say anything other than that. They ask for meid and iccid number and try to sell you insurance.

Free for a year. I wasn't trying to swap phones at the time, but the rep volunteered this info anyway. But I was concerned about this info at the time the rep said it, because I knew I'd be trying to get a Verizon device whitelisted down the line, but he didn't know that. Thanks, now I know what to do.

Wonder what their conversion rate has been on insurance. Some reps take "no" fairly easily while others evidently brazenly add it without permission.

out of curiosity, did u take any precautions before u did that?
i mean were u sure it would not mess up the 1 year promo?
Did you give this a shot? How'd it go?

So, I cancelled by porting out after a week. The first months bill was never adjusted like I was hoping, so a called in. Foreign rep (Indian?) claimed Sprint could not adjust my bill for the plan or the activation. I told him I was sure he was wrong, but would no budge. I tried chat and was told I had a credit pending that would show up on my next (final) bill and she was willing to go ahead and reverse the activation fee. After a little trouble with understanding, she also seemed to indicated it would be better for me to pay the first month bill now and then get credited back next month.
So, I paid $65 and afterwards had a $4x.xx credit appear on my bill for October. I've been checking every week or so and it looks like the 4x.xx credit was cancelled out, but no mention of why or for what. The credit is still there on the bill, but looks like the same amount was added as a cost without saying what it is for. Is that likely to be them sending the remaining balance to me as a check? I'm just trying to make sure, from anyone that's done something similar here, that they do pay back any remain credit on an account, right??
I'm starting to worry that the last rep I talked to either wasn't clear or didn't understand me when I was asking if I should take the pending credit into account and just pay part of the September bill.

EDIT:
Oops, sorry. It was still early morning (for me) when I wrote the above. I was thinking of Sprint and started talking about the Sprint phone I bought from Best Buy, paid off, and then ported out the number, to swap the phone into this free plan. So the cancelled plan was the basic ($55?) plan from Sprint.
Essentially this whole question should have been in a different Sprint thread. I was just wondering the the pro-rated credit from cancelling would eventually be sent to me or if there was something I could or had to do in order to get it done.

A FYI tip is to say you have a Squaretrade plan on the phone. It helped me but as you say some reps will try add without permission.

I have been on the phone for 45 minutes, they are transferring me to a third agent. They say I am eligible to upgrade in June 2019. May take awhile.

Hmm, unless Sprint extend the deadline or they allow SIM card order today and activation later, there is no way I can transfer from T-Mobile. I've been to 2 Sprint corporate stores and 1 ran out of SIM card for iPhone and the other won't give for BYOD. 2 retail stores and 1 want $25 for SIM and the other only give SIM with phone purchase. Visited Apple Grand Central and Queens Center and they don't give nor sell SIM by itself.
The universal byod sim $2.99 shipped from Sprint https://m.sprint.com/shop/mobile/...=105500049

Promo extended to 10/30 so you have time

Stop telling lies. Why would sprint send internal memos to stores when this is web only offer.

And if you were really a corporate store person then why didnt you reply about upgrade eligibility when i asked previously to you
Not corporate store. I mean corporate as in corporate hq. corporate store could care less about this promo at this is online only and they have no incentive to support or help with this promo
