Need inputs from user community -

I got Sprint S7 Edge. Paid off the device and closed the line.

Now, I would like to put this phone on free account for someone else. But its showing up as device is not eligible.
Any inputs for getting this done ?

Are you sure it is failing for device and not number? What carrier is the number from?
Does it pass tello or ting(cdma) checker?

From Business Wire: "Sprint's extended network toolbox is improving the experience for customers across the country. Based on Ookla's Speedtest Intelligence data, Sprint is the most improved network with national average download speeds up 33 percent year-over-year.2 And in more than 25 of 99 top markets, the company's average download speeds increased anywhere from 40 percent to more than 100 percent, including Chicago, Los Angeles, Seattle, and Houston".

I am trying to get this set up. If I activate a phone on H2O wireless do I have to pay the minimum or $10 to get it set up (pay as you go minimum amount) or is there a way to get a number without paying the $10 and port out immediately.

If not, can someone confirm that Google Voice is working for porting out if I need a new number.

Thanks

Google Voice works, but ports are sometimes slightly problematic and can take a few days. If you can get a hold of a T-Mobile SIM, they will allow you to activate it by calling T-Mobile activations without funding it, and you can then port it out.

I had the same issue with my lg g5 and S7 edge. You need to call them to activate it.

Wow, thanks for this! I have t-mobile and an extra sim. So, do I have to open a new account? I really don't want to add a number to my current account since I share the account with family.

yes, call and use any name, and use an email that you can access. Call in, and tell them your "boss" wants you to activate the account for work. They probably won't, but if they ask you to fund the account, just tell them your "boss" wants to fund it later. Make sure that you get the new phone number and set a pin while you have them on the phone. They sometimes ask for an "activation code"; if they do, just tell them that your "boss" gave you the SIM and didn't give you anything else. If they ask for a contact phone number, give them any number (that you can receive a call on) that is not on T-Mobile. When you port, 1XXXXXXX is s your account # (XXXXXXX is your phone number), and you'll need your pin.

i did the same with my S7 Edge. it was on contract with sprint so I closed it and was able to chat with CS and swap the device into the free line. no issues and I used the SIM that came with it. I did everything online using the swap device option & chat. what steps have you taken so far?

Apple allows you to buy an iPhone 8 for $250 with a two-year Sprint contract. The Apple page says the upgrade will work with your current existing voice plan. Does this mean I can upgrade through Apple and still keep my free one-year BYOD plan?
