Another unrelated question- can any version of iPhone X(cdma or gsm) be used on any network. The reason is i am with sprint now and might eventually move to att or T-Mobile. So was wondering if i can buy it now for full price and use it with sprint and then take it to att/tmobile.
No, you have to wait a few weeks until Apple releases the X SIM Free model.

Has anyone determined if lines can be added to an existing Free Account after the original offer ends, or is that still an unknown?

You say "tried" to buy. So, did Apple ever put through a transfer? At what point did it show you are on the $5 plan? Did you set this plan up before Apple/with another phone?
Yea. I was planning to buy it. But then I realized I have to pay $100 on taxes. So I stopped at the payment page. You can see $5 plan at the payment page. Voice plan: existing voice plan $5/mo. Sprint terms: no commitment. One time upgrade fee: $30

This is the plan.
1. Open two new lines with new number in my wifes name. Hopefully i can open without a phone in hand.
2. Port out both lines to somwhere else for couple of months(any suggestions where). I will have to pay $220 termination fee for one of the lines but i guess i will be fine in the long run.
3. Wait for 60 days and then port the number back to the new lines opened with sprint.
Will this work. I don't want to loose my number.
Thanks.
