The sprint site was super slow so I called to get the sim. The CSR said something along the lines of "we are getting a lot of calls today because people waited for the last day." Just a FYI -
Sounding like it's not being extended.

In case that's true, if you've been thinking about this...HURRY! EEK!

IF they extend this offer today, does everyone get the extension, or are those who got it earlier limited to 12 months free?
Sorry, but you only get what you signed up for. That's why they have stated end dates. Those who signed up in July get free service through July 2018. Those who signed up in October get free service through October 2018. Etc.

So I've switched now to Sprint (4 lines and had to buy 1 new phone to pull it off) - and I'm surprised to see that my free service is costing $22.88 per month. The breakdown is $0 for plans/equipment, $7.96 for Sprint administrative charge, $1.60 regulatory charge, and $13.32 government charges. (Looks like my county is charging $12/month for 911 service!) I'm signed up for autopay.

Is this all correct or ??? With the purchase of the new phone, I might have just been better off with my cricket plan.
$23 bucks ($6 per line) for 4 lines of unlimited talk, text and data. You're not going to find that kind of deal anywhere.

Do the phones need to be activated today, or just ordering the sim today good enough?

Need to be activated today. Don't sit on your SIM expecting it's all good and all.

The offer has been extended 3 or 4 times now so we have learned the answer to this. It is that you only get the end date in effect at the time you initially subscribed for your first line. Even if you add more lines now, they go by the end date in effect at the time you initially subscribed for your first line.

I havent seen this answered if we use the BYOD offer can we add a separate iPhone X line under Flex plan onto the account and pay the $60 for the line or whatever it is? I take it nothing can be combined with this offer?
Some have said yes. I myself think that yes, you should be able to do that at the very least.

It is all definitely not clear yet.

(post-edited: I have reworded this more conservatively in view of other comments to be careful as sometimes Sprint adds extra momthly charges of $25 a month or more if you do upgrades in an incompatible plan).

considering that the merger with TMobile fell apart, I would expect this deal to end today

I believe that if you go online with an eligible device, and they accept the order and send you the SIM, that you will be ok.

But I would not give up yet even on the possibility that you can do the Apple upgrade even on the free plan. The Apple offer sort of implies that because it says "your plan will not change" for the $30 fee.

I think you could try for the latter if you could stand it if you ended up with the former.

One person on Howard Forums Sprint forum said he had got an upgrade on the free but I would not take that as gospel yet. Also it may or may not depend on whether or not you are 120 days into the free plan.

If you do try, document everything in writing.

It is all definitely not clear yet.
He got an upgrade with his BYOD and got $350 off the iPhone X on top of the free year? Wow, the thing is we need 2 lines and would rather give my wife the iPhone 6 than trade it in. I just want to be sure they'll let me get an additional line because I'll be handing over the iPhone 6 to her and porting her number.

Hi:

One other person in my family wants to add a line (I already am approved for 5), and wants to get this Iphone 8 from the Iphone upgrade program: https://www.apple.com/shop/buy-ip...1,31,40,60 . I'm confused on two points:

1) The Wiki says "Verizon ONLY for Iphone 8". This is the unlocked Iphone 8 for any provider that can accept a Sprint SIM. Will it work?

2) I assume that this is being financed by Apple (and not tied to a Phone Company Contract) that it will qualify as an "owned device" under the Sprint Free Year terms?

TIA :-)
1. Yes
2. Yes - check if the imei passes the sprint test

Well I can't tell for sure you know because people post something and you do not know if there may have been special circumstances oe an exception was made or I am misinterpreting it or ...

We do not have enough data points yet to generalize.

how is merger with Sprint giving T-Mobile a content partner?
I didn't say the Sprint/ T-Mobile merger is a content or distribution play- it isn't. If the merger fails or the FCC challenges their tieup, their only remaining play is to acquire vertical or horizontal companies
