T Mobile website for activation is asking for my SIM and IMEI. Do I have to put in the moto e4 IMEI, or can I put in a random old GSM phone?
Doesn't matter -- any IMEI for TMo

Is this still alive? Debating it. I'd have to get a new phone and I'd need to use Sprint, which is fairly crappy down here.
Yes it was just extended a few days ago.

Right now is an excellent time to sign up because people signing up now get it free (about $4 a month per line for taxes) until the end of January 2019 (i.e almost 15 months).

BTW, when you received your Verizon, did you activate your phone with a Verizon SIM (even a SIM without service)? If you accidentally used different carrier, it will lock your Iphone X to that particular carrier.
Depends where they bought it. If from Apple, all iPhones paid in full come completely unlocked and can't be re-locked by a carrier. So it wouldn't matter which SIM was put in the phone.

You should never go to any store with the 1 year free plan- that was part of the ToS. You should have called and asked Sprint phone tech support to open a clickit ticket to add your iphone x esn to the activation whitelist
yeah lesson learned here but really silly that both support options and after talking to 3 different people they all said i had to go to the sprint store and no other option. i also can't understand why a simple ESN swap causes your plan to change. really messed up system.

I wanted to get a discount on Iphone x when my upgrade will become available but my understanding is there is still a full price when upgrading through sprint plus potential to get plan messed up. If I order x from Apple, which option you guys recommend?

So I signed up originally in June, now I want another 4-5 months of free service... what's the most cost effective way of porting out and back in? I can't find it in this thread.

Get TMobile SIM, port out to TMobile Prepaid, create new Sprint Free Account w/reative or friends SS #, port back in.

Reports are it works no matter how you buy it. But, here are the possibilities:

1) Buy outright;
2) Buy with Apple financing;
3) Buy with Apple "'upgrade" program

All 3 are reported to work. #3 carries "some" risk, because Apple wants to know your Sprint phone # and wants to do the activation for you. However, it's been reported (once) that you can do this and ask Apple NOT to do the activation when you pick it up, and then call in the phone IMEI yourself. So, I would advise if you go this route (Apple Upgrade Program) that you tell Apple NOT to activate when you pick it up. If they refuse, back out of the transaction, and do #1 or #2.

because otherwise the Sprint Store gets nothing for their trouble. By switching your plan, they get a commission! EEK!

Thanks and repped! Any way to get a deal on Iphone X on this plan, for example during BF sales or December deals?
