Oh sorry, forgot Tello uses Sprint. Porting to Freedompop would be the cheapest, but maybe not the smoothest
I ported from Tello to begin free plan.

After going through the entire essential phone thread, this one is daunting. I only read the wiki and the last few pages. I have a couple questions:

1. We are to port in a "non sprint number." Would a number that was originally a sprint number that has now been away from Sprint for more than 2 years suffice?

2. What's the easiest method to bring in a sprint branded phone that's not on the list? (eg LG G2 or Note 5)

1. Absolutely.
2. It may just pass the Sprint eligibility checker right off, in which case you are all set. However, it will fail it if the phone was ever on an mvno. In that case you can send the imei to https://www.reddit.com/user/LiterallyUnlimited (on reddit, or he is also here) and he can take a look at it and reset the ownership flag from PLBL to SPCS, provided it is otherwise eligible, to allow it to go back on Sprint. Note Boost/Virgin/Sprint prepaid phones are not eligible, nor are phones which were never fully paid off on Sprint, even if they ran flawlessly on an mvno since then..

I have an unactivated iPhone X from Cricket, it is the A1865 part number which is supposed to be the GSM/CDMA model, but when I look it up for compatibility, it shows that it is not compatible? Any idea why? When I look it up at ting, it also shows GSM-only compatibility.

Thanks, I was very close to reaching out however I called for the 3rd time today and finally got routed to the right department with an experienced agent that fixed everything.

For reference for anyone else that has a situation where they need to be placed back on BYOD / 1 year free do not use the # in OP. Call customer care at 888-211-4727.

I had a similar issue, it looks like sprint hasn't white listed iPhone X's issued by other carriers yet. You need an agent that will whitelist the IMEI. You can get a store manager to do this but DO NOT LET them do the switch to the iPhone X. After it's whitelisted you should be fine to do it yourself online or via support.

not yet, they told me it won't show until tomorrow as it applies at midnight. the agent was very confident and said this is their 4th time dealing with the situation and the prior 3 were resolved properly.

Thanks! What do I need to give them in order to get it white listed? Just the IMEI?
