thanks for the details.Even though I read it three times, i still did not understand you have to pay $20 a month for that tablet. Such a trap.
It's hidden indirectly in "new activation required." Since tablets are not allowed on the free plan, this has to be a paid line. But I agree is definitely misleading to bury it so deep. It is very hard to spot.

No one has been able to help me get past the credit check identity verification problem. I emailed Marci Carris but no helpful response. Someone from billing called me but was not able to help.

I want to become a Sprint customer and no one from Sprint is helping.

Same here. Tried a few times but every time they just say not approved but can't say why. A letter will be sent with an explanation. Odd thing is there are no credit pulls so something is failing before it does the actual check.

I just tried today and it worked. Cancelled the new paid account under my name used to get essential phone yesterday. Call in today to setup a new account with my SSN, make sure the account number is different, then port in two numbers from AT&T for the BYOD one year free promotion. It works.

Telesales is trying to give me one free LG tablet with only $10 for shipping and he confirms there is no monthly payment in the future. He said it's a promotion for new customer. I'm just afraid it's a trap so I did not accept. Anyone else get the tablet and what's the experience? Thanks.
You used same social for both accounts?

Yes. My own social for both accounts. Maybe it's because the paid account is within 14 days for the essential phone deal so it can be cancelled immediately and won't affect you setup a new one. Also they told me I won't be hard pull again because the previous hard pull is within 60 days.

I'm not a Sprint expert but I also got surprised because people are saying I need to wait 45 days in the forum.

Looking forward to add a new paid line for LG G6 next week and port out after paying off. Hope it won't affect the current two free lines.

Did you pay the $3 fee to unlock the google voice number in your GV settings? At the beginning of this thread, go to page 1 and search google voice CTL F the directions are there.

I was able to use a GV Number on a iPhone 6s.

Hope this helps
Thanks for the info.

Yes. I have followed the instruction on page 1: 1) pay $3 to unlock my GV #, 2) setup pin for voice mail. When I called to add a new line last night, I was told that my phone and GV # were eligible for the service. My request was processed and a confirmation # was provided. I also received an email from Sprint with my confirmation # and phone #, but I found that there was an error with the phone #. When I called them this morning to correct this error, however, I was told that my correct GV # is not eligible. That's why I guess that their system may have changed.

When did you activated your plan?

Did you use same sim that came with Essential originally ? So basically purchasing the LG G6 at BB next week, paying off , canceling within 14 days and signing up for free plan with same phone should work?

I really want to use my s8 but its not whtelisted

If my post right above yours works though I will need some knowledgeable people on this tread to chime in because the wiki of that threads says it doesn't , G6 for $120 is a great deal. Costco has G5 Plus for 170 unlocked which will work without having to sign up for Sprint twice.

Yes, I use the same sim card coming with the essential phone. Let they know the ICCID and they port my own number on it.

How did you cancel the account? Just port out all the numbers? Or did you call them?

I port out to H2O yesterday afternoon. I have only one line on the old account to buy the essential phone. I did not call them to cancel.

I second this question. Also you ported a number from your Sprint sim that you canceled to the free plan or was there an intermediary place you ported ?

Did you find a solution to this? Would it work if you tell Sprint CSR that you want to port-in a different #?
