Today is start of my new billing cycle and so far it still says "unlimited - bring your phone"plan,
both online and via iOS and Android apps. So I've upgraded my other line this morning and hope I get the Essential phone and the camera online, like previous time. I've initially joined Sprint about a week ago so it's well within the no upgrade in 120 days rule.

As with everything else, YMMV on whether Sprint is going to enforce that 120 day no upgrade rules.

I've upgraded to Essential on one of 2 lines. I have one more day until my next billing cycle. Will know if i lose one line to free, or both. Worse case is i port the numbers out and then port back in using a relative's SSN. It's nice to have a large family. Smilie

It doesn't have any bloatware and is a clean samsung. I'm going to try calling Samsung and DEMAND (more like beg ) for a solution. I bought an unlocked phone from them and it should work everywhere.
Good luck and let us know.

If you post or at least look at the first and third lines of Settings / About / Service Provider SW Ver. it will be helpful.

Thanks for the tip. If I have a sprint sim that is compatible with my phone. Do I have to buy the sim from Sprint? I read that I could call to activate using my own sim, is it the way to go?
Yes, call and use the Sprint SIM you already have with the phone.

Add a paid line to your plan first (cancel on of the free ones first if you are at your l# of lines limit).
Should I add a paid line in the store, or should I add a paid line over the phone? I tried adding a paid line through Sprint's website but the Sprint system will not accept any of my credit cards.

My account showed the line is eligible. Just clicked the upgrade from android app. You can do the same from web browser too.

I should've done what you did. Instead I cancelled the upgrade order because I was scared that all my free lines would convert to paid. Now I try to upgrade and the system won't accept one of my credit cards, probably because I had cancelled the previous upgrade order.

Basically I have an extra Sprint locked Essential Phone that i recently paid off. I asked them to unlock it. But they said I need to have this phone active on Sprint for 50 days. Can I do this BYOD with my GV number and wait for 50 days. and then request unlock after that? any experience with that, anybody?

I think you should be able to do it. It will need to pass FED.

Did you open a new line and get the Essential? Did the line show upgrade eligible after you paid off the Essential?

I opened a new line to get Essential and paid off right after having the phone in hand. It showed upgrade eligible. So I went to BB and upgraded to G6. but after that it shows not eligible until 2019.

Lots of people in the Essential thread got relocked and are not passing FED. Your Essential will need to pass FED.

You can always put the IMEI and GV number into sprint.com/1yearfree and see if it passes.
