Did you actually reach the store or some call center?
Well there's probably 100 people on this thread that got them for free that way but believe who you want.
$10 is ok from the Sprint store too.
Yes, I just called the store but I don't know if it is the actual store people or not. At any rate thanks again!

I just found out, Apple Store do not offer free sprint sims via phone call to store. I called sprint store and they offer a sprint sim for 10 bucks!
I called the Apple store on Tuesday and they routed me to some call center while they were supposedly looking in the back to see if they have the SIM. I gave up and then went to the Sprint store that day after an SDer PMed me that he got it at Sprint store. I didn't have to pay anything, the guy there was pretty cool about it and also inserted the sim for me..I did get a receipt saying $0. Don't believe these guys on the phone, just go to the store..

I asked them if they have Sprint SIM and if I can come and pick up..They asked me to go to Sprint store. I then said 'Don't you guys give free sims for all iphones'..which is when the guy put me on hold saying he'll look for it in the back..when I was on hold, I got routed to call center (Apple Care) and that guy said whenever store is busy handling other customers we get routed to Apple care..He asked me to call store back after 30 min, but I went to Sprint store since another user PMed me saying Sprint store also gives it free.

If my phone is paid off but somehow is not clearing FED will removing the imei from their system fix it or makes it impossible to clear?
FED is a gray area that no one knows its actual policy. AFAIK, Sprint does not share the detailed policy with anyone so far, including MVNOs. I think LiterallyUnlimited (from Ting) tried to get the detailed FED policy from Sprint last time with no success. So far, we know that FED is turned on for:

1. contract/discounted postpaid devices with service contract.
2. postpaid devices with installment/lease.
3. unpaid bills.
4. subsidized prepaid devices.

Ideally, I think the internal system should subdivide FED into FED1, FED2, FED3, etc. to differentiate the above, but no one knows if that is case. So far, you best bet is to use FED cleaners from eBay or wait it out till it's cleared by the system. If anyone has an accidentally "leaked" detailed FED policy, please share Big Grin

Just tell them you bought a new SIM-free iPhone and need a Sprint SIM to use it on your Sprint account. They will give it to you for free if they have it in stock at the store.

FED is normal for sprnt.. my purely unlocked (no carrier) phones have been failing FED on ting too which were activated with Sprint.. i think that was because i had bill pending..

but those were not locked.. still were working with other carrier sims...

I have pending bill too but why are some active phones clear of FED and an inactive phone has FED? There is no rhyme or reason.

I read the OP, and have the following Q (sorry it's probably obvious but I'm not sure)
I currently have Verizon service and use a Pixel 2 on it -
  • Are the phones on the lists the phones that you need to turn in, or the phone I'll need to buy in order to qualify for this offer ?
  • What does it mean that the phone needs to be unlocked - If I buy a used phone which was previously used on the Sprint network but has a clean ECM do I need to do anything else to "unlock" it?
thanks

He won't accept payment, but giving him some Reddit Gold is a nice gesture if he's able to help you.

This is a "Bring your own Phone" offer.
The Pixel 2 is on the list of compatible phones and you can bring it to Sprint.

Some used Sprint phones can be activated too but that topic is complicated with many special cases. If you want to do it without getting into numerous technical details, ask the seller to guarantee it can be activated on Sprint postpaid. Most used Sprint prepaid phones, and even many (or most) Sprint postpaid phones on Ebay, will not activate successfully (despite being listed as "unlocked", which has several different meanings) because of many reasons including subsidy locks, unpaid balances, lost/stolen flags, prepaid status flags etc. Each of these would take paragraphs of text to even begin to explain and even then people usually misunderstand..
