Adding the ESN on the BYOD says I'm ineligible, so I'll have to call in to activate it.
I would just give them the IMEI to add and not ask any questions.
When the guy asked for the ICCID, I just said this model does not use a sim.

If it was ever used on an mvno there will be another issue but most flip phones have probably not been used on an mvno so I will not go into that yet unless you encounter that problem (which usually appears as a phantom "unpaid balance" activation error when it occurs, but that is not the real problem).

i called sprint and they connected me with porting department. they activated the line in 5 mins and it's working now. successfully ported my google voice no to sprint Smilie
When port from google voice number, did you have to provide account number and pin? Did you have to do anything on google voice side, like initiate a transfer? Thanks.

Had this since July and no problems other than it being Sprint. 🤣 I have to say I won't be super sad for my "free" year of mostly ~ 2mbps data on LTE to come to a close and consider moving back to Verizon or T-Mobile. I almost feel like service has gotten a little better but I could also be fooling myself.

My Nexus 5X on the BYOD plan is gonna break soon.

What are my options when it breaks to keep my plan for just 2 more months?

(In two months I will be getting a brand new phone that works with BYOD and need to somehow keep my free plan until then.)
I was in the same situation. I activated with a Nexus 6P and it's broke now. I switched to my old Note 5 which was actually an unlocked Sprint model that I was using on T-Mobile/Metro PCS up until a few weeks ago when I got this plan. I had to get a new SIM card from Sprint which they sent to me for free and when I tried to do the swap online it made me initiate a chat session to complete. After the chat everything went fine and there was no mention of plan changes during the chat and I also checked my account online.

So far I am happy with the service for the most part. Data is slower than it was with Metro PCS, but nothing that keeps me from doing what I normally do. At home the LTE speed is super slow @ 3mb/sec, but I'm on wifi anyway so I don't care. I live near Downtown Atlanta and work in the burbs. Out at my job the speed is much faster with averages of around 25mb/sec. Also calling for anything has been beyond frustrating. The people over chat are way easier to deal with. I called to ask about a SIM card and the lady tried to pitch me on getting Amazon Prime added to my account. I informed her that I was already an Amazon Prime member and her response was "I understand, but don't worry it's only $10/month and you can cancel anytime."

Thanks for the reply. Do you know if it is confirmed that the 50 days unlock policy applies to BYOD? I don't want to risk the phone never getting unlocked.
If you do what I posted on the Essential thread (dummy IMEI, dissociate real IMEI, etc.), then yes. I helped my son unlock a Sprint phone that way. Make sure you have some usage on the line to avoid being flagged as suspicious.

I assume all of the TD's are due to the same deal having been posted back in June, with lots of information, and almost 14k comments.

Ditto, I'm about to activate a different phone and port a T-mobile number(I use Google Voice and Hangouts so my phone number doesn't really matter) and cancel the service on the phone I started earlier this year. To me it's kinda like resetting the 1-year free phone service timer thanks to Sprint!

I love the service though, I'm in Orlando and get literally no dropped calls anywhere on my iPhone 6s plus(originally an at&t phone). The data speeds are lacking whilst not on LTE but it still works!

"hey, it's free"
