Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

For anyone who wants to extend or use a temporary carrier for porting in our out, at Best Buy, Ting has this GSM sim card for $10 that is pre loaded with $30 Ting credit. I used this once before and the credit was updated in my account overnight. This is a GSM sim card meaning it uses T Mobile network which means it qualifies for porting into Sprint byod plan. I have an extra sim card and tried it and I tried my phone number on the eligibility checker and it qualifies. Make sure you are not using the CDMA version on Ting since it uses Sprint which means you will not qualify.

Google Ting $30 credit sim card. I just ordered 5 at Best Buy for home delivery. I hope Ting does not have a limit on their credits so I will have $150 credit on Ting once I load up all my sims. I wanted to post this item on Slickdeals but I don't know how to.

The $30 stacks up. Previously I had 2 of these sims so I had $60 credit right away. Another good thing is even if you delete all your phones on your Ting account, your account and whatever credits left will still be there once you go back. The only downside of this sim (if you really call it a downside) is since it is GSM, you can only use it once.

Reading on mobile so apologize if I missed it but what happens at the end of the 1 year? I know it switches to a $60.00 Freedom plan but can you cancel at the end of free year and walk away. I was about to move to VZW prepaid but know quite a few folks with Sprint that have great service in my area.

There is no contract so you can walk away if you don't like their offer at that time. If you have good coverage in your area go for it!

good info..thanks..repped

1. what if u dont have a phone (unlocked/gsm etc) to put the sim cards in? then what?
I don't know the best number to call, but there are direct numbers on the T-Mobile prepaid website to call directly. only thing that really matters, is having a new never used TMobile sim card and your account and pin info from Sprint

did u use tm to port out all 9 of ur lines?

where did you get ur tm sims from? ebay? how much were they?

did u get port out info from tm at the same time u ported in?
If porting in to T-Mobile prepaid its better to do it with a customer service rep over the phone. They will help you set up your account and establish your account and pin number right there and then.

I chose ship to home which is free... Which I think will take a couple more days. I'll get it this Friday if everything else is good. No shipping fee, just tax of $3.12.

Glad to help. Look for phone that supports carrier aggregation (LTE Plus) if you can. The data speed is pretty impressive if you are in areas with LTE Plus network, granted the network is not congested.

Just checked my device, it is iPhone 6s Plus. So, I guess this supports 'Sprint LTE Plus Network'.

1. Yes
2. Some iPhones do not qualify so it may matter in some cases
3. Not sure - I will leave this one for others
4. Yes ask Total for acct# and Portout pin
5. A Sprint sim for your particular model phone
6. No delay BUT Total can be troublesome as it is TracFone
7. Correct you can add more later

Checked the iPhone 6s Plus on sprint byod site, and it is eligible Smilie

I will try to get sim from apple store tomorrow to save on sim & shipping costs. If I can get sim from apple store, then I need to call 866-782-8777 to activate service, I can't do it online, correct??

Called Total wireless for account number & PIN. Rep gave me account number and said that there is no PIN on account. I asked twice and both times rep said that only account number is needed. Hope port goes smoothly.

You can now port in any eligible device and eligible phone numbers to your daughter's new free byod plan. You can check if the phone and phone number thru Sprint's eligibility checker webpage. You can port as many numbers to your daughter's account, depending on how many lines she got approved, usually 5 lines. So 1 eligible (new) ssn can get a total of 5 lines under it. The 4 additional numbers don't need a new ssn. They will all be under the primary line's account.

Perfect, thank you for the clear answer.

To be eligible you have to be a new customer, meaning Sprint will look for a social security number that is not active on a Sprint account (others say at least 45 days from closing your original Sprint account). The deal is usually you will get approved for 5 lines. So all these other 4 numbers need to be under the umbrella (social security number) of the first (mother) phone. Only 1 ssn/account can have 5 lines. Only 1 ssn is used for that account.

Others who are halfway or nearly halfway who wants to extend their free plan to another 12 months can port out their lines to a non Sprint mvno to temporarily get their phone numbers out of Sprint. Then after a couple of minutes they open another account using a different ssn( spouse/gf/bf/mistress/etc...etc...and port in those phone numbers and enjoy a fresh new 12 months of free service from America's leading cellphone provider. 😃

Thanks, this is quite helpful!

Yep - I just used a Ting SIM I had laying around to create a new number and port it into Sprint (posted details a few pages ago). It was a GSM SIM I had bought plus some credit left over from the RIngPlus port deal.

Actually, I last used Ting about a year ago, with that one GSM SIM still attached to my account, and when I checked a week, I found that Ting had closed my account (even though I could still login to it) and erased all my remaining Ting credit. My GSM SIM was still listed, though. There was a note saying, "We closed your account and removed your credit - but let us know and we can restore the credit!" I emailed them to ask to do that, and the rep said, "No, can't do that but maybe I'll give you a $10 credit toward a new plan." So then I just called and read the next rep their note about restoring all the credit...and she did.

Anyway - if you accumulate Ting credit, don't be surprised if they pull the same thing on an inactive account after a few months.

The Ting port worked fine except the Sprint rep though it should be only a 4 digit PIN, but Ting's porting PIN was 6 digits. Gave the first Sprint rep a different 4 digit PIN Ting had sent me and of course that didn't work; second porting rep at Sprint tried the 6 digit PIN and that worked immediately.

Nice to know one can buy Ting SIMs at Best Buy!

Yes, after you Port out, you can check the Sprint website to show when your number and device shows eligible. I ported out at night and called to add the lines the next morning but they will show eligible after 15 minutes or so. TMobile prepaid account number is the 10 digit telephone number with a 1 at the begining. (11 digits total) and you tell them what pin you want. I told them I was buying refill cards locally from a store.

it will work.
i would just suggest to wait 1 day to let dust clear,,,but..as others have responded..u could probably do it same day...even 30 minutes later....

me..i play safe..wait 1 day or 2...

if u do the tmobile plan..let me know exactly how u did it so i have info for future..if needed.

like i am not even sure ..where do u get free tm sim?

good luck...report back when done
Thanks. Done. I bought couple of Tmobile sim cards 2 years back for no reason, when there was sale for 99 cents and sitting in basement, finally used them

I didn't wait long. Ported out after 15 mins of tmobile activation. Used the same sim card at sprint, I had used earlier before porting to t-mobile. Everything went smooth. But needed to call sprint for activation as I was getting errors online. Now I have free service until Jan 2019.

Exactly correct
You can try 0000 if Sprint says there has to be a pin.

I highly doubt it if they will approve business phone numbers.
I already posted in my post they they said they would not accept businesses (which have EIN's). My question to the poster who said "SSN or TIN" was if there was any confirmation that they will accept some type of TIN other than SSN for this plan. For exampe, ITIN. I was not referring to EIN of a business, which, as we have now both posted, they do not accept for this plan.

For example, how about Trusts, nonprofits, nominees, guaranteed accounts etc.

I am going to pursue these with Sprint but was trying to find out if the poster who said "SSN or TIN" had something specific in mind.

The other way to pursue this would be to terminate the account temporarily before Jan 14 and guess that the promo would be extended yet again , allowing a new account to be set up after 45 days.
