Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

Newbie here.. I got the unlock code for Verizon moto e4 from eBay.. swapped in sprint sim card and entered the code. On making calls now it says "your account could not be validated" and pops up message saying sim is locked and contact CS. Did anyone had the similar issue and knows how to resolve??

Buy another phone...

VZ Moto E4 will never work on Sprint since Sprint won't whitelist the IMEI on their network -- you need to buy regular factory unlocked Moto E4 (goes for $100+)

Freedompop port problems will never end. Now they are saying it will port on the 11th of Jan. Taking 2 weeks to port my number to Sprint IF it goes thru on as they say. Will believe it when I see it.

The fun never ceases...lol

I ported successfully from FreedomPop - took 24-36 hours, but worked without a hitch. In my case I was using ATT LTE-SIM based service, though I don't think that matters much because I believe all FreedomPop-assigned phone numbers are really just VOIP, not true cellular numbers. I just needed to provide Sprint with FreedomPop account number (same as phone number [no dashes, no spaces] & 4-digit PIN (available from link on FreedomPop account page). And wait ... but much less than 2 weeks. Best of luck!

Glad to see someone got theirs ported in a reasonable amount of time. I keep getting the since its a voip line it takes longer. When they call Freedompop it says there is a technical issue with my account. I gave them all the above info the first day.

FP uses different local carriers to provide its VOIP numbers in different parts of the coutnry.
Some are big, like Broadband.com/Bandwidth.com, and they are usually pretty fast.
There a few smaller ones too which can be slower.
Some use the "temporary technical issue" excuse to routinely take a long time to port out numbers.
You can see which underlying VOIP carrier your FP number is really on on various sites.

but should not take 1 week.

I have a spare Sprint-capable phone (Nexus 6--formerly on RingPlus) that I'd like to port in as a spare. It doesn't currently have any coverage, so I'll need to sign up with someone and then port in. What's the cheapest way to do that (i.e. cheapest buy in that I can then port into BYOD)?

This seems like a pretty common question, and yet it's not covered in the FAQ.

I realize it's probably covered somewhere in the 101 (!) pages of this thread...but probably should be in the FAQ.

If there happens to be a post in this very long thread that deals with this question, just let me know the post # / link...

I'd suggest picking up a prepaid T-Mobile SIM card. They cost about $10 but it's the easiest and quickest way to create a new number and port to a new carrier and you don't even have to fund the account. Just create a new number and port right after and the port is really fast. I've don't this multiple times with cricket and now getting onto sprint.

You do not have to activate the phone prior to porting in a number from anywhere. You can get a number for porting from Ebay (search "TMobile number for port.") or $3 from Google Voice or from TMobile as per Mephistozap's post that crossed mine just now I see.

However since the phone was on a Sprint mvno, you will in all probability have to get the ownership flag reset from PLBL to SPCS in Sprint's database. Otherwise the IMEI will not be accepted.

Search on LiterallyUnlimited in this thread to see how to accomplish that (he will do it for you free).

The wording under the "order/activation" subsection on the community wiki makes me think that I can get the sim from anywhere else (not Sprint online) and still go through the activation process via the 1yearfree link. Is this the case or do I need to call CS. Not sure if relevant, but I have a Nexus 6P.
I got mine free at the Apple store, but had to call in to Sprint to get my service started.

That's great! I have a Nexus 6P so those sim part #'s won't work. Sprint rep at the store was unwilling to sell me any unless I activate there. Suffice it to say I moonwalked out of the store MJ style.
