Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

If I port my sprint line to other carrier now, how long do I have to stay with other carier before I can port back and qualify for this promo?
45 days if you want to port back under your name/SSN -- no guarantee that this promo will be around in 45 days

If there's someone else that can sign up for service then you can port out in afternoon/evening and port back in next day under their name/SSN -- usually ports are fully complete in a few hours, but I recommend staying away overnight just to be safe

I had two lines which were ported out on 11/23. Currenlty i am able to login to my account online and see new bills for $0 but have no lines active or under the acoount.

Can i be able to do the byod on same account or do i need to do that with new social? Has anyone went through with above case with no issues?

UPDATE: I logged into my online account and clicked on sprint byod link to check the device and port in no. eligibility and i got below message

"Not eligible for this promotion" and immediately moved to page where its says

It's not you, it's us.
We're sorry, we can't complete your order online, but give us a ring and we'll get you taken care of."

Does calling @ 866-782-8777 do any help in this case or just to have a new account with different social will be a better way to proceed just not to mess up anything?

TIA

ow, these bastards told me I had to get the sim from them instead of getting it at a store, so I do, paid the $10. Got it today, called them to activate, they said the sim is NOT compatible with their plan and to go to a Sprint store to exchange the sim... Lol Figured I'd try the sprint.com/activate and after creating and signing into my acct, I get a oops error... lol Unbelievable...
I realize it may be too late now, but, in general, do not ask or take any advice from them, given now or before. It is usually wrong.
Determine the correct sim part number yourself, obtain it, and do not mention the part number to them, just the iccid.
Do not ask any questions because they know nothing.
They are order takers and have no technical knowledge.
If you ask questions, they just guess.

Well, this was a bust for me. The online credit check failed, so I got a SIM from Best Buy and called the activation number. Unfortunately, Sprint's Credit Department could not verify my identity at all, so it looks like I'm SOL.
Did they not give you an alternative to go to a local store to show ID? (If you take this route, just set up an empty account at the store and go back home to phone in again to set up the free plan - do not do that in the store).

If you have no credit record at all, maybe you can team up with a friend on this.

Call for sure because often the old account is not closed out fully and the 45 day clock has not even begun to tick.

However I see an indication that the promo may not be extended beyond Jan. 31.

That indication is a an article elsewhere that I think was really ghost written by Sprint that says to act by Jan. 31.

45 days, but to be sure, you need to call back immediately after porting out your last line and tell them to start the clock ticking.

However this is not a good time to do it. Wait until at least Feb. 1 to see if the prono gets renewed. We are close to month end now, so the 45 days from either date (now versus Feb. 1) would be in March, so you may as well take the ;ater date to do it which still ends in March, yet gives you the benefit of knowing whether the promo is still alive.

I have superb credit and never fail a credit check, but I think I have a minor freeze on my FICOs because I had an identity theft issue a few years ago and wanted to protect against more fraud. Think I'll have any problems?

When there is any kind of freeze it can cause an extra step or two but nothing insurmountable for someone with your credit.

There are two kinds of freezes. I forget how they label them. Mine is the milder of the two.

Always something, huh? Some jerk hacks into my credit card over a year ago and it's still coming back to haunt me.

I was prepared to go into a Sprint store, as others reported having to do. The Credit Check guy said that usually they are presented with a few challenge questions, but for some reason, none came up for me, so there was nothing that he could do.

I have a loooong credit history (multiple credit cards, own home, 20 years at same address, etc), so I'm not sure what's going on here. He said that I'd receive a letter in "7 to 10 business days," by which time this promo might well be over.

My prepaid year of Mint Sim is almost up, so it was worth the $10 to try....

Was already said putting it out there again... those on Xfinity Mobile porting into Sprint, your pin is the last 4 digits of your phone number and the acct used is the acct # from Xfinity Mobile and not your Xfinity/Comcast acct # (which they said some companies need instead). You can get your Xfinity Mobile acct # from the app.

The letter will not add anything useful.
Since in your particular case you should readily qualify (which is not true of everyone), I would contact

I'm on the fence about the whole thing as I write this, but I suppose I've gone this far, so it worth a bit more effort to see it though.

I appreciate the tip, and I'll send Marci a message and see if she can help!

I believe she will.

It is not just Sprint. It is the Equifax identity service they use. The USPS uses the same service and just turned me down for an account because I gave the right answers instead of the wrong ones they were expecting on the basis of their error-filled database. Plus this government agency nonetheless tells me there is no way to correct the database. I had problems with Sprint too but happened to be able to work around them because I figured out the wrong answers they were looking for.

I realize we are going off topic here, but all the questions I get asked with credit stuff are obviously not about me (some person was using my SSN before or something, idk). I think they get their answers from Public Records. I have no idea how to rectify the info on it. So, there really isn't a way to change it to match my actual info?
