Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

That's true forgot about extending end of free year. Or if it's like the November 1st extension it was free for 14+ months.
Yeah, that would have been nice. Guess we'll all find out for sure in a few days. I wasn't following this in November because it didn't apply to me at all. I didn't have a phone that would work with Sprint, and I would have sacrificed too much of mintsim. By switching from Mint, I'm also losing all the free international calling I was getting.

I was reminded of the Sprint promo when I was telling someone that I was disappointed about not being able to use the "free" 6 months of Republic Wireless service that came with my phone purchase in mid December. RW wouldn't accept my ported in number, so to use it I would have had to get a new number from them, which I was unwilling to do.

Please help me wrap my head around how to do this. I have 4 lines currently with ATT. 1 of my phones is not eligible per the list (Microsoft Lumia) and is in another state with my mother in law. I was going to purchase an unlocked moto g xt1625 for her. What's the easiest way to do this Since it's a new phone not currently activated on my att account and not in my possession?

Also I don't see moto g xt1625 on the list above but it's notated as eligible in another thread about the deal on that phone.

That message does not necessarily indicate a problem.
Everyone in certain caregories has to call (for example if you ever had a prior Sprint account because they need to close off the prior account).
Everyone using their own sim is another category that has to call in.
Or those whose phone needs special consideration.
So your odds are still excellent.

I'd say, buy the phone, order a sim card for it at Twigby.com, hope the promo is extended beyond Jan 31st, then phone the BYOD number after you have both the phone and sim in your possession. It doesn't matter that the phone isn't being used yet. It's the number that matters.

I just activated the account. They didn't transfer me to the credit dept, they didn't need to any verification questions--they just approved me within seconds. They also gave me no hassle about the device protection nonsense. The girl told me that they are not allowed to add it if the customer doesn't want it. So, I'm up and running. My reception inside is mediocre --2 to 3 bars and under 5 mbps down, even though their map puts me in their top tier reception-wise. Also, it's slow in sending and receiving texts (took over a minute to receive a text I sent myself and over 20 seconds for it to send). But there are no APN settings at all, which is weird. There is no place to even enter them. They said they'd be sending me a text later today which will do that automatically. Hopefully that will increase my down speed and reception.

Edit: weird, just sent myself an MMS and it sent and was received far faster than the SMS. Sent myself another SMS and still haven't received it. So MMS is so far much faster somehow.

Also, she checked and said this will be the last month of the promo, that they are not extending it again. Don't know how accurate that info is, but this is the first time anyone from there sounded definitive about it.
APN settings are in the dialer code *#*#DATA#*#* (at least on my phone). I have no idea about it so I don't mess w/it. If you do take a look at them, mind telling me the differences between them? Thanks.

I have to get the new phone on to att first before I can call the byod line right? Or do they not know that the new phone isn't technically attached to the number I'm porting?

Again, it isnt the phone that matters. It is your service and number that you are porting over. You do NOT have to have your phone on ATT first, as long as your NUMBER and SERVICE is with ATT.

Sprint is different than any company Ive used, possibly because they are CDMA. I talked to a tech person this morning who told me it is normal for the APN settings to not show, which I find odd. Nobody gave me that dialer code, so I'm not sure what to make of it. Does that code change the APN settings, or just reveal them to you?

It took a lot of work but finally got my Mint Sim & Virgin Mobile (thru h2o) lines to Sprint Free year. What makes it sweeter is I have an LG G6 & Essential Phone on those two lines from previous Sprint $5/mo deals.

That dialer code takes you to the DATA settings menu. On that menu, you will find "APN settings" which looks identical to the one that would have been on the regular settings menu.

Thanks, repped. Nobody at Sprint support mentioned that to me. I'll try it. Where did you find it? I googled it but nothing came up

Edit: tried it and it works. Interesting. Through that I found out I have an email address with Sprint that I didn't know about. It is: (my full name) @sprintpcs.com

YW. I think the IMEI is just to make sure that particular phone model qualifies for BYOD
