Usually so although some people have got it to work and posted logs of it working successfully entirely automated. I suspect Sprint is testing it intermittently or something.
I guess I will give it a shot tomorrow, since it doesn't seem to hurt and may be quicker way to get to the correct chat support line anyway. Will report the result back. Thanks again.

Along the same lines as Dealmaster98's question, what are you supposed to avoid when calling in to activate a phone so that the CS rep doesn't void your free year? I keep reading these posts where the CS rep does something and the customer loses their free year. Exactly what do you avoid to keep that from happening?

Here is my situation.
Currently on LG G4 on MintSim.
The LG G4 is from the Verizon deal from 2 years back.
Called Sprint to activate a line and port from MintSim. CSR said that the G4 is not a valid device.

Got a Sprint branded LG G6 from Ebay. Tried to activate over phone but the CSR could not. Went to the local Sprint repair store to pick up a sim. The rep scanned the phone and said it's sku'ed as a prepaid phone.
Contacted the seller he said that the he bought the phone as post paid and paid off the device in a month and listed on Ebay.(He is ok with taking the phone back).

Can myself or the seller get the phone to be resku'ed as post paid?

What other options do I have to get this phone to work? or is it best at this point to return and get a new phone?

Yes - if it was sold as a postpaid phone when first sold (which it probably was for this model) just email the IMEI to LiterallyUnlimited on reddit and he will flip the ownership flag to SPCS and then it will activate fine. Search for posts by LiterallyUnlimited in this thread for more info.

Mainly, call 866-782-8777 and not any other number. Do not activate at a dealer or let a dealer help out beyond the minimum where needed for identification or selling a sim. Do not try to take advantage of a special Sprint or Sprint-co-sponsored phone offer at the same time..You are supposed to already own the phone outright.

That's it!

Is this the number I need to call to port my old number on top of my temp one, too?

I have a "customer support" number of 844-382-3312 I jotted down as well. Because a previous post had mentioned call tech support rather than sales for the port.

Other than that it's working out pretty well for me. I even noticed in one area I frequent (the shooting range out in the boonies) it has better service than Cricket did. It does not work in the school area I mentioned (huge building, that most carriers seem unable to penetrate, except ATT/Cricket). But that area got wifi recently, so I should be fine there. I haven't checked my parents house in the boonies, but they have wifi too! So once I port my old number, I'll be set to cancel my cricket service.

Not the same, no..
Different numbers for different purposes.
Call Telesales 866-782-8777 for initial activation on the free plan .or adding new lines on the free plan.
Do not call that number for changes to existing lines already on the free plan (becauseTelesales aim is always to find a way to sell you something at all costs, anything goes, lying not a concern for them). For technical changes to existing lines that, yes, use tech. support chat is what I would suggest (or you could call - probably the number you mention is fine).

That's great that the coverage looks viable other than the school building, where wifi calling should hopefully work.

I ported over to this deal using a throwaway Tmobile number that I purchased off ebay and used for the $350 Galaxy S8 deal. Since I just wanted to try the service and see if coverage was acceptable...In the meantime I kept my cricket service and my "real" number that I've had for a few years, active on a secondary, "backup", phone, via simply transferring the sim card (gotta love GSM networks)

Now that I've had Sprint for a few days on my main phone and determined it's acceptable for my needs, I want to port my real number to replace this Tmobile temporary one, then cancel my cricket service. The problem is Sprint chat just told me that's not possible (even though Comintel I think said it is...). I even copied Sprint chat reponses...

"Tony S: I would like to inform you that it is not possible to port in a number to replace an existing line, in this situation the current line would need to be canceled so that a new line can be added to port in."

"Tony S: I am afraid it would not be possible to add another line by porting in with the 1 year free plan and you have 1 device which is already active on another line."

Since I am approved for 5 lines, I thought it would be possible at least to add a second line with my real number, then just let the 1st line lapse. As you can see Tony nixed that too.

I assume it might be possible to cancel my current Sprint account altogether, and come in fresh. But that was a nightmare because of the constant difficult ID questions, I dont want to do it again. Besides that I assume they have records I already took advantage of this deal and wouldn't let me do it again?

Worst case I guess I can just accept this new number, but that kinda sucks.

I dont know how to proceed, comintel any idea?

It's kinda difficult to get my point across over text, I may try calling in.

Worst case you can just port in another line/phone under the offer , then swap numbers.

Can even be a fake number.

I have swapped numbers myself.

You'll need another Sprint phone+SIM to do that -- device swap other phone on your dummy line to free up the S8

Port in 2nd number as 2nd line using the S8 on your existing account then cancel the dummy line

Hmm. Only issue there is I dont have a 2nd Sprint compatible device handy...

I guess I could look for a secondhand Sprint Moto E4 or something, but if I find one I assume it will be at least 40 bucks or so.

It's starting to make me wonder if it's all worth it. I was only paying 35 a month on Cricket. I'm gonna pay about 4 a month on taxes with Sprint. So 31/month for 12 months, =372 savings only. -40 or more if I buy a new Sprint phone, or I'm forced to lose my longtime number :/

First world problems I guess!

I guess it could work out because I have a kid in mind I'd like to get service on the cheap. I could give him the 2nd line when done.
