Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

I signed up last July and during the past eight months we've seen Sprint say the program was ending soon, only to see it extended again and again. Why is it different this time? Why does everyone think it is really going to end this month? Their track record indicates otherwise.
Pure speculation again. People just don't want to lose out of 9 extra months of free, which makes it worthwhile to sign up again.

What Sprint is saying (almost nothing, by the way) is no different but we are coming up on the one year anniversary of the initial announcement in May 2017 (although people got somewhat over 12 months).

Sprint could extend again, certainly, but if they extend beyond the year, large numbers of people will roll over to a family member to get another year, and I doubt Sprint wants that. It would prevent Sprint from monetizing the conversion to a paid plan which was their objective (whether realistic or not).

So it will cut off new signups sometime soon, in my opinion.

People have less and less to lose by rolling over, as they near the end of their initial year.

People can certainly make their own tradeoff and their own call. If they leave it for what turns out to be *too* long, they could lose the chance to roll it over for another year, that's all.

Good point. It will eventually end, and maybe that will happen shortly before the one year anniversary.

The deal was first announced in late May 2017 but I think the first end date.was July 31, 2018.

If they are truly desperate to maintain their subscriber count at all costs (say, for secret merger talks with someone), they could let it run quite a bit longer. However, eventually it should drag down their ARPU (average revenue per user) which is a closely monitored statistic too.

Anyone know when the counter for the 1 year starts - is it from when you port the first line over and activate or when you order the sim initially.

Doesn't matter -- current free promo billing ends 4/30/2019 (5/1/2019 will be full price if you stick around)

Savings until 4/30/19; then $60/mo. for line 1, $40/mo. for line 2 & $30/mo./line for lines 3-5. Reqs. AutoPay (discount applied w/in 2 invoices), new account, bring your own eligible device & Sprint SIM card. Savings claim compared to Verizon Go Unlimited rate plan for 1 line as of 8/23/17. Data deprioritization during congestion. Other monthly charges apply.**

It matters to me. We got the sim cards late last year and never activated or ported the line in until just now.

I would guess you will be ok and get the current date but it is a fairly unique situation.

if you have now activated, look at the online portal dashboard / manage plan / details and it will show the dates.

If yu have not yet fully activated the phone, I would suggest call 866-782-8777 to complete activation instead of doing it online and ask them to promise you will get the full year from now before finalizing it.

Sometimes calling in is needed with certain phones.

If they get an error about money owing then see my prior post.
Got it to work online by using the imei of a demo phone at my local Walmart to register and then swapping out to the sprint phone once registered through chat. My goal was to not have to talk directly to a sales person and got a fully working phone now.

Yes I was going to mention swapping would have worked too but did want to have too make my post too long and complicated.

What error message?

If it mentions money owing to Sprint, it will not work and I assume it was on a Sprint mvno and you will have to get LiterallyUnlimited (search this thread) to push it to Sprint postpaid.

Test at https://www.sprint.com/en/shop/br...print.html to narrow it down. His passed there. Yours probably will not until that is done.

This is error message I get:
This phone can't be activated
Sorry, but this phone can't be activated with Sprint service. Try to re-enter your IMEI or try another phone.

It is a phone purchased brand new locally
