Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

I've a Nexus 6 (Project Fi, unlocked) and an iPhone SE (MetroPCS, locked until 5/20/18).

The Nexus 6 was bought from Amazon not through Project Fi (GOOGLE)

Both phones are listed as eligible device for this promotion.

However, the eligibility checker showed this message for both phones:
"Sorry, but this device can't be activated with Sprint service. Try another device, or Shop for a new device."

https://www.sprint.com/en/shop/br...phone.html

Does anyone has similar experience? Thanks!
Need to add the imei to Sprint database. you might get lucky by going to Ting BYOD check and it will add it for you just by doing the BYOD check. If not, you have to call Sprint to add it.

Edit: I have a Nexus 6 (verizon) on this free plan

So will people on the free 1 year BYOD plan be kicked off it randomly if the merger goes through? I don't want to switch to Sprint tomorrow and have them pull my credit only for 2 months later find out the free promotion is ending due to a buyout.
You keep free service until the given exp date

You aren't in a contract so they could change the free plan if they wanted to but I doubt it -- the promo isn't that well known so its not like millions of people are currently using it

Try Ting or Tello BYOD check to see if CDMA compatible

If the Nexus was used on a Sprint MVNO like Fi then you need to get the phone flag reset to SPCS: https://www.reddit.com/r/Sprint/c...to_sprint/

So will it unlock automatically after 50 days for the buyer or not?
The posts I saw had not waited out the 50 days. I would not be surprised either way.
I personally would guess it will not unlock automatically after 50 days because I hear they have stopped doing that.

Does this apply to all essential phones, or only those from the Sprint deal?
Certainly only those from the Sprint deal.

Thanks for the info. Ting's imei check result:
Your phone is compatible with Ting.
Bring your Nexus 6 to Ting and it will support the following services on our CDMA network.

Will contact Sprint for flag reset.

Sprint will usually not do it currently.
Google Fi tech support chat will do it on request if it was ever on Fi.
Ting will do it if you were ever on Ting.
Or LiterallyUnlimited (search this thread for his posts).

If Sprint still did it readily people would not be resrting to all these other methods.

Some reports of Sprint doing it refer to many months ago. I have seen alnost nobody succeed in getting Sprint to do it in recent months. That said, Nexus is an easier case to make because Sprint is a partner in Fi so maybe it will do it more readily for Nexus users.

Not at all. I had my imei added to sprint database by tech support when I was a postpaid customer.

Thanks, and how long did it take them to run a credit pull. They ask for your SSN and date of birth correct?

Sprint and tmobile merger will affect current 1 year free BYOD plan? Any thoughts?

As bravesfan mentioned it is as off IF approved.
Also if it happens it's bad for consumers. We want them killing each other to gain our business. The American Way.
No they won't shut down the BYOD either. According to..... me

Those already signed up will be absolutely fine.
Sprint made the written promise of one year free.
But for anyone not yet signed up I would do it NOW.

I would not be at all surprised to see the offer close to new customers shortly after the merger is announced, which could be in the next couple of days.

They also can cancel all service next week and give 30 days to port out(doubtful) like a sprint mvno we knew.
This thread has been through merger talks and offer expiration's before and survived. I hope it continues free for life or until Sprint no longer exists.
