Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

how do you guys activate online? I got sim cards from sprint today...
I am currently on call with sprint support and he said he have to run my credit check before activating.. is it true? They took my ssn when i ordered my sim cards

I hope you're calling the 8777 number. If not, better hang up.
True - nobody except Telesales at 866-782-8777 can put people on the free plan. Support is not qualified and may put the poster on a paid plan.

Assuming the poster is hopefully talking with TeleSales, might as well continue that to completion even if it is another credit check. It happens.

Pretty OT to this thread but, I got a email today from Sprint about their (proposed) merger with Tmobile, talking about "5g for all" (they're saying the merger will hasten/allow them to invest in 5g or something).

I just hope the new network becomes GSM in time though (probably too late for me on this 1 yr deal). CDMA is a pain in the ass! There's a very limited selection of unlocked CDMA phones compared to a plethora of GSM ones. That's the one thing I don't love about this otherwise great deal, as a phone geek, feeling like I dont have the capability to buy the various unlocked off contract GSM phones out there, and/or easy sim swapping.
GSM and CDMA are both almost obsolete.

The combined company including Sprint will move toward all LTE and VoLTE and support GSM and CDMA only for backward compatibilty with old phones as a function of how many customers still have old phones.

All newer Sprint phones for the last couple of years are already GSM compatible anyway and roam fine on GSM in Europe using the existing Sprint sim. So supporting GSM bands and roaming is already built in and does not require any change to the phones. They can just update the PRL's to include the TMobile towers.

You are right that GSM phones have been cheaper and more universal. However, all that is breaking down to a certain extent too with many of those phones sot supporting VoLTE on AT&T etc. Everybody now wants VoLTE and Wifi Calling and those issues are not GSM issues or CDMA issues.

But I agree it will be good if we can use the widest possible selection of phones on deals like this.

On Sprint you need band 41 support currently though for higher speeds. That is not going to change overnight. Sprint has excess capacity on band 41 which is partly why deals like this are possible. TMO does not have excess capacity to give away like that so I do not think you would ever see an unlimited data free deal on TMo..

According to the Wiki both the SIMOLW506C and the SIMGLW446C should work on the G5 Plus:
According to other posters here SIM Sprint Part # SIMGLW446C from Best Buy should work on the G5 Plus.
Note: The Sprint Part # SIMGLW446C was handed to me by the Sprint store, not from Best Buy, I do not know if Best Buy sells this part number.

GV is widely used ($3) to port in and probably the others too but can be slower to port. Even FreedomPop is fine.

I got my essential phone activated., the biggest problem was getting the SIM card at the sprint store. those employees really dont want you to buy it on its own, they want you to activate right there and then.. but i finally got it. and activated, I had to factory reset the phone for it to work and activate successfully.

I have GV number and still have $0.99 balance, how and why I need to pay sprint $3?

$3 to unlock it for port out unless you ported it in:

I have ordered three sim and will be receiving it tomorrow. I see lot of folks advising to call to activate. The promo page has a link to activate. Does following not work?

It works except when it doesn't. You've already on that path so sure, use it at this point. It should be fine.

Calling covers more contingencies, including allowing you to provide your own sim, but you're past that choice now and should be fine.

~45 minutes left before the 1-866-782-8777 telesales number is done for the night. So call now or hope the deal is extended by at least another month.

Some Best Buy's may carry it, but it is not sold as a retail product(no packaging). You would have to ask geeks in the mobile department to look in the stack of SIM cards.
I think the cost was about same as boost kit(about $10).
Boost kit contains cards which are compatible with pretty much every device on eligible list, from iPhone 5s up to S9.
