Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

Thanks for the help, unfortunately the rep said the port department closes at 8pm ET so I'll need to call back tomorrow morning at 10am ET. He did say the port has gone through and he gave me a couple of numbers to dial (##25327# and ##873283#) but neither one did anything so he said the port department would need to handle because he thinks its something with my phone (moto g5+)
If it went through then it will take effect on its own. It is unlikely to be a Sprint problem other than normal caching/routing delay. Update PRL, Activate, Update Profile, Reset Cellular Data in the phone and power cycle it should do it..

They gave you the WRONG carrier reset codes for the Moto G5+.
The correct one is dial: *#*#72786#*#*
This code works for the Essential Phone, the Nexus phones and other Google devices and Moto phones, and others.

Update your phone's profile in the settings menu and if that doesn't work use the code above.
If the CS rep told you that the port went thru then it most likely did and you need to do the CORRECT carrier reset for the phone.

The codes you got are for the iPhones.
##873283# is also known as ##UPDATE# and it is only for iOS devices.
##25327# is also for iOS devices.

Many older Android devices use: ##72786# or ##SCRTN#

Virgin Mobile phones use ##VIRGIN# OR ##847446#

By the way, congrats for porting out and in with T-mo today!

What do you guys think will happen to the free year subscribers if Sprint and T-Mobile do end up merging? Can they kick existing subscribers off the deal?

No, it's like a lease, if someone buys a house, they must honor the existing lease

May not be a legal obligation if the original entity (Sprint) is no longer in place. I was reading a CNET article

https://www.cnet.com/news/t-mobil...d-to-know/

which has the following quote:
Quote :
Sievert declined to comment on what the companies plan to do with many of the ultra-competitive grandfathered plans that customers have clung to. T-Mobile has generally been good about honoring existing plans within its own service, but it's unclear what it would do with Sprint's plans.

I am currently in tbe sprint free plan expiring in July 2018. Can i port out to h2o now and within a couple of hours port back to sprint with a different ssn... Anyone know if its possible to complete the process by tonight i start now..?
Do not use H2O. Use T-Mobile for a very quick turn around.
It can be done in less than an hour.

It looks as if this offer was not terminated on April 30, BUT it may end at ANY time or if luck prevails maybe last until 5/31/2018 but I wouldn't count on it.
The faster you get on this free deal the better off you'll be.
So, do it tomorrow 5/1.

Pretty OT to this thread but, I got a email today from Sprint about their (proposed) merger with Tmobile, talking about "5g for all" (they're saying the merger will hasten/allow them to invest in 5g or something).

I just hope the new network becomes GSM in time though (probably too late for me on this 1 yr deal). CDMA is a pain in the ass! There's a very limited selection of unlocked CDMA phones compared to a plethora of GSM ones. That's the one thing I don't love about this otherwise great deal, as a phone geek, feeling like I dont have the capability to buy the various unlocked off contract GSM phones out there, and/or easy sim swapping.
I got the same email from Sprint about the upcoming merger and the medium-longer term goals of the merged company.
It certainly looks as if the merged company will NOT waste any time and money on anything else besides the new 5G cell technology and will proceed full speed ahead with its implementation as it should, if it wants to remain competitive in the long term with the other two giants, Verizon and AT&T.
The 2 merged companies hold one crucial advantage over the other 2 giants: They have acquired and hold good chunks of the 5G frequency spectrum!
Also more 5G spectrum will be available this year by mergers with or sales by current holders of good amounts of the 5G frequencies like the Dish Network or from future FCC auctions.

As far as the current $85 billion planned acquisition of Time Warner by AT&T, if it's approved by the court, it looks as if it may be a colossal mistake similar to the Time Warner- America Online $168 billion merger a couple of decades or so ago.

Nothing this plan <0.5% of sprint subscribers.

Exactly, nothing!

The combined merged company will have a over 126 million subscribers with only about 0.25 million being on this free 1 year plan, and this is crucial: it's only free for 1 year.
The main goal of the new company will be, and should be, to flip as many of those as possible into revenue producing customers.
Both of these companies managed 926,000 net postpaid subscriber additions in 2017 and they will not be eager to let go of about 27% of this base, the 0.25 million (free) ones that are currently being carried on the books as Postpaid Subscribers of the Unlimited $60 plan.
The merged company will do its best to flip and keep these subscribers as postpaid subscribers and it's all but certain that there'll be price incentives and special deals involved, perhaps not of the unlimited variety but say 5 lines for less than $100 including all taxes/fees with generous but maybe not unlimited allocations, etc., etc.
Heck, MetroPCS, which is really T-Mobile, is already offering something close: 4 unlimited lines for $100 plus free phones.
A year from now when you call to cancel, the customer retentions dept. will most likely offer some sweet deals rather than have you jump ship!
