Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

I don't know if the rep know there is account A or not. It is just my guess.
The port out and port back was done within 3 hours. Since the account A is still open in Sprint system, line-1 is listed on the autopay bill. Their system might link all together.
The rep did ask me if the line-1 is connected with with line-3 and line-4, wanted to know if the 3 lines were from the same account before the porting to Sprint. It is weird that Sprint rep also need the account holder's name for line-1 from the other carrier. When porting line-4 to account B, none of these were asked by the rep.

The line-1 is not ported to Sprint yet,

Should I
1. Call Sprint to provide the SSN they need? (What SSN should I give? definitely not mine that associated with account A)
2. Give up porting that line back (but I have to keep that number.)
3. Port the line-2 out of Sprint and payoff the bill to close the account A, then do the porting line-1 and line-2 back afterwards?

Anyone has the similar experience?
see other post sorry.

Mind giving a summary of the steps required my free year is ending soon, thanks
1)First, have your Sprint account number and PIN ready.
2) Order the Tmobile prepaid/pay as you go SIM card from Amazon. Its around $8.95..Chose one day shipping and pay extra $5 to get it the next day.
3) You don't have to recharge/reload the SIM. Once receive the SIM, call Tmobile customer care and ask them to port your sprint number to Tmobile. Just give them your Sprint Acc. no, PIN , Phone number and T mobile SIM card number
4) Your number will be ported to T mobile in less than 5 minutes.
5) Wait for about an hour and Chat with Sprint Customer care and verify if your account is cancelled.
6) Now call back sprint telesales number and port your Tmobile number to Sprint with a different SSN ( a family members)
7) After about 45 mins or so with all credit check etc done, you are good to go for another one year.

shwdh818I agree they should not ask for SSN but they did.
Originally the rep said the SSN for line-1 of other carrier account, I said that line has no SSN set up, finally I was told the SSN is required by the Sprint system to make the port in work.

May I ask where your Line 2 and Line 3 are now? Do you keep those 2 lines in the account you set up with SSN1?
If yes, then I totally don't get why I was been treated differently.
Oh now I see what is going on and I have good news for you.

The second SSN they ask for is not really an SSN.

It is just a field called SSN on the standardized port form that they sometimes have to submit to your existing carrier! (It used to be an SSN years ago).

Just call your existing carrier and ask them what to put on the port form in the SSN field. It may be your PIN on the other carrier. I have had to do that too. Or just give Sprint your port pin.

It is that simple. It has nothing to do with your old Sprint account.

It is just a port issue from your other carrier.

The stupid rep. did not explain it to you properly (if he even understood it). Call the port department directly if you want (they are closed now though) and they will confirm what I just said and straighten it out. (You can call any Sprint number and ask for the port department).

They are just working on fixing up the port-in, that's all.

Received my SIM yesterday and activated today. To my surprise it says:

- FREE unlimited data, talk text until 7/31/18
- HD Streaming video and 10GB hotspot data per line

So what will happen after 7/31/18 which is 2 months and 26 days?

The rep did say the last 4 digits of the account holder's SSN. She said she has asked her supervisor. BTW,the pin for my account is now 6 digits which is a new setting for T carrier.

To play it safe, maybe I should call to ask Sprint remove my line-1 from the porting list. Then try next time to see if I am in good luck to have an easy going rep like I did with my line-4.
Just wonder if it is possible my account is being noted as SSN required, it that, I am doomed.

Nothing that is just an obsolete message. Check your dashboard Manage Plan/ See Details to see the actual date which will be 5/31/2019.

No it is ridiculous. They are just filling in the port form.

It is WELL KNOWN what that field is for and that it is semi obsolete and confusing but some carriers still use it.

If you start doing ridiculous things it may just cause real problems, not just imaginary ones, which is what you have now.

Stop assuming and stop making such guesses ...and start listening to knowledgeable people like comintel here..

Firstly they need just phone number, account number and pin to complete the port.....

Even if sprint asks you name or ssn of line 1 then they are not asking u those for account A of sprint....they are asking u those for pink mobile because line1 is currently with pink mobile which u r trying to port from pink mobile to sprint....

If you clearly told them u r porting from TMobile prepaid then they know what to ask...Sometimes some rep can ask SSN who is not aware....tell them it's TMobile prepaid and there is no SSN linked with it...

Not it is ridiculous. They are just filling in the port form. Just give them anything it does not matter. Give them last 4 of your your SSN of you want. pr sombofy else's. TMo does not even care what is in that field. They probably clicked in it or some such so now the system wants something.

It is WELL KNOWN what that field is for and that it is semi obsolete and confusing but some carriers still use it.

I started getting nervous when the rep kept on asking the account info and questioning my account and pin were not right, put me on hold a couple of times and later asking more question related to the account holder of line-1 in pink carrier. Maybe the rep is not experienced or over cautious and I was not used to that situation. The rep did make me feel the line-1 is questionable.

I will call pink carrier tomorrow about what info is needed on my account or if anything should be added to my account for porting out my number then go back to Sprint to do the porting. Hope it will be a smooth drive this time.

Thank you, comintel, for your time in explanation to me and other slickdealers. Applause

Trust me, I stressed many times to tell the rep that only phone#, account # and PIN are needed for porting out of TMobile and I told her it is prepaid account so the account number is 10 digits (she said usually it is 9 or 12 digits). She said the pin should be 4 and I told her Tmobile started using 6 digits pin to increase the account security. I told her there is not name or SSN linked to that prepaid line-1 account but she kept on asking for those info.

I understand the account pin is 4 digits but if you set up a port pin it is 6 digits.

I had problems also the first time because I answered a question wrong about the 6 digit pin I gave them. The question was, is that the pin you use to call in to TMobile Prepaid about your account. The correct answer is No, because those pins are 4 digits. I said Yes (which was wrong), so they told me to go check with TMobile Prepaid.

Now I say it is a TMobile Prepaid special 6 digit port pin and they are happy with that.

Here are the instructions sent by Portmaster708. I realize you are not using that service but the instructions explain the SSN issue and ARE CORRECT because he handles hundreds of these.

As I explained, the SSN field on the Port form does NOT refer to the actual SSN anymore. Use the last 4 digits of the pin. It is TMobile that decides what they will accept in this field and when to ask for it, NOT SPRINT.

And PortMaster708 would not be mentioning that field unless unless it sometimes IS requested, even though it is not USUALLY required.

You don't need to do step 5 necessarily. After an hour of porting out of Sprint you can check your imei # and phone numbers on the 1 year free byod checker. If it says eligible then you are ready to port back in to lovely Sprint.

I tried to use the last 4 digits of PIN as SSN for porting once when they asked, and the agent said "I think that's not right" (since I had said I was porting in from my T-Mobile account she expected the last 4 of the SSN to match this Sprint account), so I just said oops and gave that instead of arguing with her, and it still went through fine. That shows the SSN field is completely ignored when porting from T-Mobile pp, but could possibly differ if porting in from a different carrier.

A lot just depends on the agent you get. I had one super efficient guy who just immediately asked for IMEI, ICCID, phone number, account number, pin, gave super fast rundown of terms, and then basically thanks bye; probably 2 minutes. Another time I got a lady who sounded like some kind of former phone sex operator or something, doing her best pseudo-American accent and following up each statement with a fake sounding flirty giggle (ugh), and asked for all sorts of extra stuff like the name and address on the account, last 4 of ssn, etc, just to do a port in of an additional line.

will this still work if I sign up before the deadline of 5/17/18 but not activate some of the sims right away? The issue I'm having is two people on my account are out of the country right now and wont be back until June. I was able to get their imei info and everything shows eligible on the website for me to order the sims. thanks!
According to the terms, you can add a line "any time" with port-in and eligible BYOD, up to 5 lines (if credit approved for 5), but they will still have the same savings end date as the first line. So yes, as long as you activate at least one line before the promotion ends you should be fine (or unless they decide to modify the terms, which seems unlikely but not completely impossible). Of course be sure to do it over the phone using the 8777 phone number and letting them know you want to port in another line to your 1 year free unlimited plan.
