Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

comintelNo question that is an outstanding RedPocket deal and I have a friend who also chose it over the free Sprint deal just for the better AT&T coverage in his case. As I am sure you know, EBay has 15% off about once every other week. I am tempted myself. I do happen to get great Sprint downloads speeds at home via Magic Box.
yes, thanks for the info, AT&T's signal is much better than Sprint here, just gonna wait for another eBay promo

Hi,

My wife and son have I Phone 6's on a Metro PCS plan. They are upgrading their phones
to Samsung S9 for my son, I Phone 8 plus for my wife. I have ordered unlocked phones from New Egg for them. My daughter and I are taking over the old phones.

I am trying to figure out my best option for taking advantage of this Sprint unlimited deal. The current Iphones show up as eligible for the promotion. The Samsung S9 does not seem to be. I am not sure about the I Phone 8--it says verizon only on the wiki.

Both my wife and son want their current phone numbers moved to their new phones.

Is the best I can do is have metro pcs transfer the phone numbers to the new phones, and stay with them? I could then add two lines to the metro pcs account with the iphone 6's for myself and daughter (new number, I don't currently have a phone). Then I can transfer these to sprint deal for my daughter and myself at least.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Please read the last 20 pages here for other posts similar to yours for a lot more info.
Also search this thread for S9 for any possible issues with Sprint and that Samsung phone.

1. You need Sprint Sim cards SPECIFIC to each phone model.
Read this post and the links there:

https://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=115247287&postcount=18051

2. All 4 of your phones appear to be compatible with this Sprint free plan. See above post.

3. On Metro PCS register the 2 new phones and so they get new phone #s.
You'll need Metro PCS Sim cards for the 2 new phones and you'll probably get them at any MPCS store. Now you have 4 MPCS phones with their #s.

4. Call the Sprint BYOD free offer toll free #, 866-782-8777, and add each phone and port in the number you want for that specific phone for each line. By now you should have replaced the MPCS Sim cards with the new Sprint ones, Again, SPECIFIC to each phone model.
Say, FIRST you add the new iPhone 8 and port the number from one of the old 6's to that phone, etc., etc.

I think your question was answered here in these posts:

https://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=115233103&postcount=18009

https://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=115234039&postcount=18010

When you call the AT&T phone # in the sim packet that you get, 866-975-0050, to port from your Sprint account the AT&T rep will tell you that there must be funds in the prepaid account.
As GLENTON above said: "Tell them you just want to add a dollar until you get porting taken car of." The rep will add a dollar + tax for you and charge your credit card.
The rep will text you your new PIN only IF you request it then, but will NOT give you the AT&T prepaid account # telling you that the account must be fully funded before you can get it. That's NOT correct.
The AT&T rep will setup the prepaid account and then will give you the phone # for the AT&T porting dept., 888-898-7685 to call and complete the port. Now, you finish this call and you're done with this part.
THEN Call that #, port your Sprint # over to AT&T, and ask the porting agent to give you your AT&T prepaid account #. He/She should give it to you. It's a 12 digit #.
Now you'll have the AT&T prepaid account # and its PIN #, and you're all ready to port the phone # back to Sprint!!!

IF the porting agent does not give you the prepaid account # after you port to AT&T, call 611 and have them give you the account number and verify your pin, as GLENTON above said.

Total AT&T cost is about $3.00 depending on your tax area.
You are awesome...not sure how do you manage to find old posts in every useful reply of yours Smilie

If it was ever on a Sprint MVNO you will have to get ownership flag flipped back.

What exactly does https://www.sprint.com/en/shop/br...hop:030918 [sprint.com]
say?

This is a slightly different tester than the one used for the free plan and gives a nore detailed indication of any problems.

The answer to that will help diagnose the problem.
Thanks for the link but on filling in IMEI and submit it gives this error:
"Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /content/sprint/sprint_com/us/en/shop/ on this server."

This is a Moto G4 Play that has never been on sprint itself but was on RingPlus long ago before it died, and ringplus was a sprint MVNO right? But long dead so I didnt bother doing anything. This one has been on mintsim for a year now. Any remedies? TIA

Non-Sprint Branded S9's (eg. TMobile/Verizon/AT&T branded S9's) cannot currently be activated on Sprint. Samsung has not yet released brand-switching for S9 to enable doing so. You could activate an Unbranded S9 (so called Unlocked Model / Special Editionl) on Sprint, or a Sprint Branded S9, or any branded or unbranded S8 or Note 8.

However, Unbranded/ "Unlocked Model"/ "Special Edition" S9 currently requires workarounds to use LTE calling , Wifi Calling, or Visual VoiceMail on Sprint.

Aha! Since it was on RingPlus you will have to get LiterallyUnlimited on Reddit to flip the MVNO flag from PLBL to SPCS so it can work on Postpaid.

Then it will activate ok.

Search this thread for posts by LiterallyUnlimited or just join Reddit and send him the IMEI privately to be fixed in Sprint's database.

https://www.reddit.com/user/LiterallyUnlimited

You do not need the link then, since we know the problem now (I suspected it was the above anyway) but, for anyone else try searching on "Sprint BYOD" and clicking on the first hit if you want to still try getting a better readout on an IMEI on Sprint other than the checker for this offer. Sprint's web site does not like being linked into. Or try https://www.sprint.com/en/landing...:Shop:BYOD

For the Iphone 8+ Apple made 2 models for the US.
The model A1897 is GSM/LTE only and will not work on Sprint.
The model A1864 is for CDMA/GSM /LTE networks. The A1864 will work with Sprint(and other big 3 carriers).
Both models have no carrier branding. The reason sprint lists iPhone 8(Verizon only) as compatible is because Verizon uses CDMA so it assumes it would be model A1864. Although technically you could use the A1897 on Verizon as LTE only, and you could also use A1864 on ATT and T-Mobile, but Sprint didn't think of that.

I updated the steps to include the T mobile account details if it helps others. To your question, yes each phone line has its own pin for Tmobile pay as you go/prepaid.

1)First, have your Sprint account number and PIN ready.
2) Order the Tmobile prepaid/pay as you go SIM card from Amazon. Its around $8.95..Chose one day shipping and pay extra $5 to get it the next day.
3) You don't have to recharge/reload the SIM. Once receive the SIM, call Tmobile customer care and ask them to port your sprint number to Tmobile. Just give them your Sprint Acc. no, PIN , Phone number and T mobile SIM card number
4) Your number will be ported to T mobile in less than 5 minutes. Your Tmobile Account number will be your phone number prefixed by 1 Ex: 1 214-xxx-xxxx and the pin number will be the one that you setup initially during the porting or activation process.Note that for each line in Tmobile prepaid, it will be a separate account number i.e. the phone number of each line prefixed by 1 for that line. Again PIN number would be what you have set during number porting/activation for each line.
5) Wait for about an hour and Chat with Sprint Customer care and verify if your account is cancelled. Someone mentioned you can also check the status on sprint byod page with IMEI number.
6) Now call back sprint telesales number and port your Tmobile number to Sprint with a different SSN ( a family members)
7) After about 45 mins or so with all credit check etc done, you are good to go for another one year.

Most Apple stores do give them free. Best bring in the phone (if convenient) so that they can give you the right one. Note that there are about 30 different Sprint sims for different models of different manufacturers. You need the right sim part number for your model, not just the right size sim. (This is not like other carriers where size / form factor is the only consideration)

You do not need to worry about form factor / size (nano etc.). There is only one correct size for sims appropriate for any given phone model and they will automatically give it to you depending on your model. It will be nano where appropriate, since Sprint sim part numbers are already specified precisely for each model, well beyond just the size.
