Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

Sprint phone is ineligible for BYOD 1 year promotion. The phone was on sprint network and was replaced a few weeks ago.
That does not make it ineligible for BYOD at all, even if it was coming from a paid plan.
You can reuse a phone and sim 30 seconds after you swap it off or port it out.
It is only SSN's that are ineligible for 45 days after leaving Sprint.

If it was on an MVNO that is the problem and I can tell you the solution if you tell me which MVNO (and swapping in would not help)..

Thanks, the phone has never been on MVNO. I put in the IMEI, the online system said Ineligible . is there a good number to call?

Can lines still be added to the free plan after 05/17 if I already have the free plan? Or is 05/17 the end date for creating new free accounts AND porting in additional lines?

Chatted with Sprint twice and was told that

"as the promotion is available only on the phones that are not bought with Sprint."

And for this promotion one must bring a phone and phone number that is not of Sprint

Completely false. They make it up as they go. Forget them and run it at the URL I suggested and let me know the result.

You can get it on but not by asking them.....

Sprint will usually not do it currently.
Google Fi tech support chat will do it on request if it was ever on Fi.
Ting will do it if you were ever on Ting.
Or LiterallyUnlimited (search this thread for his posts).

If Sprint still did it readily people would not be resrting to all these other methods.

Some reports of Sprint doing it refer to many months ago. I have seen alnost nobody succeed in getting Sprint to do it in recent months. That said, Nexus is an easier case to make because Sprint is a partner in Fi so maybe it will do it more readily for Nexus users.
Just got approved for 5 lines and ported in GV number w/ Nexus 6.

Thanks again for your help!!

OK then you are in good shape as I expected.

IMEI Swapping should work in that case. (Don't ask Sales about that though - they will tell you NO). But first, to possibly avoid the need for that, call 866-782-8777 and just give them the IMEI, sim ICCID and port-in number and ask them to enrol you in the offer. Do not ask any questions or volunteer any other info right away.

Often it will go through over the phone even when it fails the online test.

They have some discretion. Sometimes it pays to say you will be upgrading it via a Sprint later after 120 days to an S9 or iPhone, but need to get this phone on to start with before the offer ends. But I would hold off saying that right away to see first if they just put it right through without any convincing.

Another possibility is to add a dummy high-end phone first. Then they are open to adding more low-end Sprint phones after seeing the high end phone. Or just IMEI swap with tech. support chat (do not involve sales who will veto if consulted).

Yes you can do that if the Nexus5 is eligible. You can use the same sim. Use tech. support chat for all IMEI swaps - do not involve sales.

Personally though, I would just port in the Nexus and then get tech. support to swap numbers. Essentials can have issues and I woufd not take any (small) risks porting it off and on

However it will not avoid any issues with the Nexus 5 if that is what you are thinking. Is it showing as eligible? If not it will likely not swap on.
