Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

Correct.

And of course give them the Sprint sim ICCID and put it in the phone. If they ask if the sim is new say yes regardless of whether it is or not.

Do not volunteer any info or ask any questions.
Thx so much Comintel and Hunter. So I should take out the TMO Sim and insert back the Sprint Sim (used for Ring+) to the iPhone now? Should I wait for a while before calling Sprint BYOD? Also, I'm gonna use spouse's SSN, so do I need the spouse to be on the phone with them as well (are they gonna ask some security questions)?

Spent more than 1 hour with Sprint rep to add my S8+ to their network. The rep told me that everything was ok but I couldn't call or text even after countless time turning the phone on and off. Spent another 30mins with CS via chat but couldn't solve the problem. Went to Corporate store and the guy told me that my phone wasn't put into the system yet Facepalm

Yes and there is no need to wait except they may be closing/closed.

Thx so much... I inserted the TMO sim that I got from the Apple store, and it's also the sim that I just activated by calling TMO. I'm confused and worried...

Here is the complete message that I got:

SIM Not Supported
The SIM card that you currently have installed in this iPHone is from a carrier that is not supported under the activation policy that is currently assigned by the activation server. This is not a hardware issue with the iPhone. Please insert another SIM card from a supported carrier or request that this iPhone be unlocked by your carrier. Please contact Apple for more information.

BTW, this is a Virgin Mobile iPhone 5s, used only on Ring+ then Ting, nothing else. It passes the Sprint BYOD checker and TMO bring your own device checker.

The complete message you got above indicates that this iPhone 5s is LOCKED somehow.
Probably locked to a specific provider, Sprint in this case, so it doesn't work with a T-Mo Sim card.
Has this iPhone 5s been unlocked since you got it from Virgin? OR has it been unlocked and then locked again by one of the other providers you used the phone in?
Virgin phones are always locked.
Is this the phone you'll be bringing to the Sprint BYOD plan?

The Sprint BYOD dept is closed now.
The Sprint BYOD free year plan dept. is open M-F 6am-11pm, and Sat/Sun 7am-11pm CDT.
Do it asap just in case you encounter any issues with Sprint or with the device/sim card you're bringing in.
The Sprint rep may ask for a Driver's License # but you can tell him you don't have any if you mind giving him that #.
They may ask some security questions for the credit check OR they may require your spouse to go to a Sprint Corporate store with two pieces of photo ID for an identity check. In that case you'll get an application # from Sprint, take that # to the store with the 2 IDs and you should get an account #. That's ALL. Make sure they DO NOT open a plan at the store or you'll be screwed.
If you encounter ANY problems at the store, CALL the Sprint BYOD toll free # right there at the store and have the phone rep and the store rep iron things out.
Hopefully you'll avoid the store visit but you never know.

IF you go to the store and you get the Sprint account #, then you must call the BYOD phone # to continue and finish the process. The port is done at the end and it should take only minutes to complete if all goes well.

Does the model number end in U or U1?
Did your phone convert to show the yellow Sprint Logo at startup?

It may not have the necessary OTA updates on. Attach it to a PC with Samsung SmartSwitch to get them on.

Yes this is the phone I will bring in for Sprint BYOD. It passes the Sprint BOYD checker thus I'm hoping it would have no problem when I call.

BTW, when the phone was turned on for the very first time, it was activated on R+ directly. It was never on VM service. Not sure if this info matters...

If it were not in the system it would not have activated.

Does the model number end in U or U1? This CRUCIAL to know. We cannot help without knowing this accurately. There are completely different paths depending on which is the case.

Sorry for not being clear. They fixed the problem in store. Now my phone is working. It's a G955U model btw

Thanks!

activated it with LG G5 that I bought from Ebay.
I did 2 lines with LG G5. Everything went well beside activation.

argh.. sprint said it is now activated but PHONES are not. it can't activated somehow.
Spent more than 3 hours with TECS support and 2 hours today at the store with tech guy .. but still no luck.

Used w466c & w416C series SIM Card but still no luck. both phones are having the same issue.

Sprint thinks the phone is not originally from sprint. I tried one line with my old IPHONE 5S and it works.

I need to return the the LG G5. arghhhh LINES are available but i need to find the phones asap.
Need phones for my parents in law.
if you are looking for an unlocked phone the caliber of an LG G5 why don't you buy a Nexus 5X. This phones are compatible with all carriers. You may get bootlooped but it's the same with the G5.

At this point just try it ASAP. The past is the past and we cannot change it now or do anything other than try it. but I actually think it may work out very well given the indications. Hopefully it will work but you need to leave time to resolve any issues before they close the plan to new takers probably on Thursday.

Thank you for reply.

I chat with Sprint billing specialist, but no luck. She couldn't help me, but the billing chat agent gave me phone number, so called, but again same thing they explain; I choose the plan, and the free plan only via promotion, so no plan conversion between two.
Very strange. Once I order SIM card via 1yr free promotion page, when the activate the SIM and phone, I couldn't see BYOD plan or free plan. I only remember Unlimited Freedom plan.

Anyway, I will contact one more agent tomorrow, and if not, then port out to Red Pocket. $65/month Sprint service is not for me.
Is there a 14 day grace period where you can back out? Is it past that already? Cancel plan and call in to sign up for the byod promo Big Grin

Yes thx so much... will call tomorrow as they are closed now. Really hope it will work... Assuming it works and got a new account with spouse's SSN. I have another Sprint BYOD acct with 1 line that expires in July (my SSN). Should I bring that line from the old acct to the new acct by 5/17? And are the below steps correct?

1. Port out from Sprint to Tmobile
2. Call Sprint BOYD number and port in to spouse' acct (question: do I have to call, or should this be done online)? Thx so much again.

If you succeed tomorrow with the new account, just port the other phone # to T-Mo immediately, and CALL to get it back to Sprint into spouse's acct.

You have nothing to lose by doing it now, just in case Sprint complicates things after the 5/17/2018 deadline.
