Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

Everything aside, Sprint voice quality is absolute sh**, it's so bad that you actually miss important information in calls because the audio is incomprehensible. I wouldn't recommend it for anything important or professional. Use it for data only.

What Sim card works for the Moto G5. I looked at Sprint.com and they said they don't sell them that I had to go to a store and according to the wiki---most of the Sprint stores don't have them.
Any good, bad, ugly about the Moto G5

I assume you mean G5 plus as G5 is non us.
SIMOLW506C(byod kit), or SIMGLW446C, SIMOLW416C.
If G5s plus then SIMOLW416Q.

so I ported out and then got a new account (new ssn). do I need to do anything to close my old sprint account so that 45 days later I have the option to open a new account again with that ssn?

Well, I just got off with a porting Department with Sprint, and they said the phone number is still ineligible and they want to escalate it to a higher level? They said they would call me back within 48 hours. Not sure if this is a good thing or not? Any thoughts?
Which department said that?

Ineligible for what? Of course it would be ineligible to port in because it is already in.

I hope you were talking to the port department and not TeleSales. What you quoted sounds like something TeleSales would say.

If you are the one asking them to port it in when it is already in, sorry but I disagree with your approach.

It looks like you think port in means "move onto my account". It does not mean that. It means move from another carrier to Sprint. If it is already anywhere on Sprint, it is indeed ineligible to be ported in and you do not want to keep insisting it be ported in. They do not understand what you mean.

When you say it worked on the other carrier, let me confirm that you mean the number worked on the other carrier, not just the phone. The phone alone working means nothing. If it is only the phone that was working on the other carrier, then maybe you never successfully ported out of Sprint due to the mixup and the number is still on the original Sprint account? Get them to check that. If so that has to be admitted for any progress to be made. You can just tell them the truth. There is nothing improper about porting out and porting in. You can say you were rearranging your accounts without explaining why exactly.

In any case, 48 hours is too long. Call back and ask them to escalate it while you are on the phone.

BUT BEFORE THAT I would determine conclusively where the number is now, even if that entails waiting. Look on the old account - does it still show there? Once that is settled, if it is still on Sprint and never left, you can port it out then pack in. If it did leave and has been ported back in, then they just need to move it from wherever it is onto your new account.

There is no point asking them to do something until it is crystal clear what it is you want done.

Thanks this is why I was questioning it ---hoping someone knew for sure which ones were working now.

WIKI
MOTOROLA G5 PLUS ISSUES:
The only Sprint SIM that will work with the Motorola G5 Plus is:
Part #: SIMOLW506C that's printed on the plastic SIM card holder, with the Sprint SKU #: 760492034500 that's printed on the outside of the SIM envelope under the scan bars.
THIS SIM WILL ALSO WORK IN THE NEXUS 5, BUT if you have an older Sprint Nexus 5 with an older Sprint SIM it should work with that SIM.

Most Sprint company stores do not seem to have this card in stock, but some individually owned Sprint dealer stores do but they charge about $25 for it.
The best way is to order it directly from Sprint and pay the $10 shipping fee.

Some Sprint stores think that the Part # SIMOLW416Q will work with this G5 Plus phone but it does NOT. The Sprint SKU # for that is 760492035279.
This SIM will work with the Motorola E4 as stated here in the Wiki.
Some Sprint stores have this SIM in stock and you can get it there for $2.99 or possibly for free if you tell them that the online rep who is handling your activation and porting sent you there to get it for free.
If you know the SIM Sprint Part # and the SIM Sprint SKU # that has worked for your particular phone that you used for this FREE one year BYOD Sprint offer please list it here. It will help others.
According to other posters here SIM Sprint Part # SIMGLW446C from Best Buy should work on the G5 Plus.

Can we reuse the old Sprint sim cards doing this method? We've got a family plan where some of the phones will not be physically present during the porting action. Hopefully reusing the old sim cards will result in very little disruption to the phones not physically present (i.e. only about an hour of downtime and a reboot required or similar).
Yes you can use it. Tell the rep that you got new sim from the store.

I have never recommended Sprint stores which are often independently owned and focused on commissions and really could not care less about do it yourself purchasers. They are perfectly prepared to guess at the right part. The problem is they handle so many that they see the patterns and can usually guess right depending on phone families and features, but sometimes guess wrong, whereas looking it up allows you to be 100% right.

(a very authoritative site run by Sprint engineers and insiders)
shows
SIMGLW446C or SIMOLW416C for G5Plus
and
SIMGLW416Q for G5s Plus

So there are the parts for two very similarly named phones. I think we can see how people got confused between them.
Thanks for that post. Geez the more I looked at the sim card issue and the wrong items being sold the more confused I got. I just want to get it right the first time. I hate going into stores but might try it vs paying the shipping cost. It won't hurt if it's free. Not sure why they are making it this difficult. The other cell providers make it pretty simple.

I have to assume if I sign up for this now that I will have the Free service until 7/31 vs going by the date I sign up. Glad I couldn't find a phone Smilie

They are rarely free in stores (except for iPhones at Apple stores) - that is another myth that just gives people grief in my opinion. The prices are all over the place. Yeah maybe some people can argue their way into getting them free in many cases by lying that they were told they were free. I know that is the way some people like to operate and that's fine - more power to them if that's their choice - it's not mine.

You can also buy any sim from Twigby for $2.99 by mail. I have never heard of them getting it wrong.
