Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

The real issue is compatibility of your phone.

That is just a Sales telemarketing center and all they know is how to sell, not about phones in depth.

Maybe it is branded and not compatible. Maybe not. Samsung has not yet released brand-switching for S9/S9+ as it has for S8.

Please post the exact model number from the phone settings and whether it ends in U or U1 and we can help you resolve this.
The phone according to their site is compatible. The SIM i had is not compatible but they said they white listed it.

s9+ model: SMG965U1ZBAX

BTW i just ended up ordering from their site instead of dealing with customer service.

Oh good - I'm glad you got in!

I do not know what was the matter with that/those sales reps. Basically many are just ignorant and ill-informed. He thought your phone was incompatible so he was trying to sell you something else. Some others reps are excellent.

It is TeleSales by the way at that number, not CustomerService. You are not quite a customer yet at that point. I agree they should understand better but of course the world of phone model numbers is complicated.

Yes that's right. Just follow the thread for a few days for more tips. (Of course they could end the offer early though).

I just think they need better training and a call should not last for 45+ minutes. Sales pitch is too long also.

I agree and there was probably even more coming that you may have missed out on. Many sales reps. try to force phone insurance on you and also a "free" tablet that is not really free.

The sim card you need is simolw506TQ(BYOD kit sim) or simolw406TQ. They probably would have been able to proceed with correct sim. Although they should have told you this instead pushing you to new phone and paid plan.

During the process of porting out and porting back in, what should we do with the phone...? Should we power the phone off during this entire process and don't do anything such as texting or making calls...? Thx for your help...

We have discussed that in at least 40 posts. It went into effect at midnight on 5/17 (we tracked it here live at that moment) and the web site was updated at that time and all new accounts from that moment got 7/31/19 end of savings date.

So I just went to Walmart and purchased a second Boost Moto G6 Play, to see if I could activate it on my second Sprint line. I just used the Sprint IMEI checker and it passed! I figured I would not get lucky with two of these phones. Tonight I will use another chat session and swap it onto my second line.

My daily driver is a Samsung S8 Plus, but I really like this G6 Plus. For me, I like the 18:9 ratio. It fits nicely in the hand. Definitely not as much horsepower as my S8 Plus, but I haven't seen any problems. I've been streaming live TV and it's very smooth and responsive.

I had to drive 20 miles to get this second phone. My local Walmart was sold out. I think each store only received a couple of these phones. Whatever the issue is with Sprint, being able to activate these phones is not a fluke. You should do this quickly before the activation stops working. I'm assuming that once you get it connected to the Sprint network, you should be able to activate it again and again.
I just activated my second Boost Moto G6 Plus. This time it was smooth and quick, not like the first time when it took 30-45 minutes and my lines were messed up for a few hours. I don't believe she needed to whitelist the IMEI. It only took 10 minutes via a chat session. This is a great phone for $80. Highly recommended!

Everyone is talking about porting out to T-mobile using the Ebay SIM cards. I have another method I want to run past yall.

I currently am on the free 1-year plan that expires on 7/31. I currently have a Samsung S8 activated on that account. Let's say I have a SIM in that phone, we'll call it SIM #111. I love the S8, and want to use it on Sprint for free another year.

I just bought from Craigslist a used Nexus 6 that was previously used on Sprint. I ran the IMEI through Sprint's website, and it says it IS eligible. It has a SIM inside, lets's call it SIM #222

My plan: Call and set up a new account using my GF's SSN, porting in a spare Google Voice number that I have. Activate the Nexus 6 with Sim #222.

Once the port goes through and I get the Nexus6 up and running, a few days later, cancel my original account altogether. This should "release" my Samsung S8 and SIM #111 from Sprint.

Wait a few hours…..and then do a device swap on the new GF's account. Device swap: Deactivate the Nexus 6 (SIM #222), activate the Samsung S8 (SIM#111)

Make sense? Anybody see anything I am missing?

Yes carrier unlocked Motos and Pixels for me are always the best options. You are never tied to a single carrier and once your deal is up, you can move on to whomever has a better deal.

Great! That confirms my experience in my post earlier this morning:

https://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=115694139&postcount=19087

It is a very good phone but since it only has 16Gb of memory, for heavy storage a memory card can be added, 32Gb, 64Gb, etc.
This phone also has the UICC Unlock menu under the System Update menu, so it should be able to be unlocked by Sprint.
It has the message "Please contact Sprint to unlock your device to support a different UICC if needed."
Also, the Moto G6 Play Phone showed as eligible for the BYOD offer on the free offer web page so it should be eligible for the after 50 day unlock.

Again, this may be a systems glitch that may be corrected at any time by Sprint/Boost.
But so far, it is the least expensive brand new phone that is eligible for the Sprint free BYOD plan. With this and a # to port to Sprint it can be done for around $90+/-.
It beats the Moto E4!

Reps to Garymeter48 for sharing this find here a few days ago:

You cannot cancel a line or account, either one, that precisely. You have to go through Retentions. It can take weeks waiting for end of billing cycle before the phone frees up.

You have to either port the number out, or, swap another phone on, to get a prompt release.

Inyour case, I would just swap the Nexus onto account 1. That will force off the S8 immediately and you can create a new account with it immediately.

There is no need to touch any sims and you should not do so.

Later you can cancel Account 1 without waiting on that step.

You could do it your way too but you will have to have a boring phone call with Retentions to cancel and then wait a couple of weeks or whatever.
