45 days of hassle and no coverage?! Thanks for the hint but how about No. I have a much better solution that worked for me, in real life. Just dump Sprint and join T-Mobil. You can't be happier, as I am...
Sprint doesn't understand the value of loyal customers so deserves NONE.
Ingrate. How about thanking comintell for his input and possible solution. Or just FO. How about that hot shot?

NY is not the center of the Universe. People have been picking up free Sims from Apple stores throughout the Country since this deals inception.
We only have the global flagship store and the highest concentration of Apple Store anywhere. Oh, and UN, NYSE and NASDAQ

This company is crazy. Guess Sprint has no value for loyal customers and knows nothing about marketing (At least not enough). After being with this company for more than a decade, talked several times to their CS and telling that compare to others, they are ripping me off and disrespecting my loyalty. What they answered? Sorry we can't do any better and all good deals we advertise are for new customers, not you fool who stayed with us for so long. So now I could not be any happier with T-Mobile and go screw yourself Sprint.
Well, you said it yourself. I would not have been the fool who stayed with a company with crappy service for a decade. If Sprint service didn't work well where I needed it, I would drop them in a heartbeat. Their are three other major carriers to choose from. Fortunately, Sprint works wonderfully in my area. The whole family is loving the free year.

I was going to sign up to just have a free year of service then quit but it's not even worth the trouble. I'm currently with T-Mobile and have no intention of ever switching (T-Mobile is going to own Sprint anyways).

A few months ago I tried to get on the Kickstart for $15/mo and I couldn't even pass credit check (I have 850+ score by the way).
Considering the maximum credit score is 850, how can you have a 850+ credit score?

The Wiki mentions to call Sprint Tele sales @ 1-866-782-8777 to sign up for the 1 year BYOD free plan and port your T-Mobile number to Sprint with a different SSN (a family members).

My question is, can this be done via online (which is what I remember doing last year), or is it best to call the above number?

We probably could have helped you avoid going to the store.

As to KickStart, that was a flash offer only open for a week. You could not add lines after that.

KickStart 2 is open now by the way at $25 a month and you can do it at stores this time. So they are learning but the price has gone up to allow store support. Personally I would prefer to do without it.
No sure what you mean, you work for Sprint? If not there's no way you could have helped me. I talked to at least 4 CSRs not including the people at the store. This was at related to my credit which I already mentioned is 850+; I never had any delinquency when I was with them. And I went early during that week of kickstart offer.

Best to call to avoid needlessly buying unnecessary new sims (as required online) and also run less risk of foul-ups.

It has nothing to do with your credit.

It is an identity issue. Many many people have run into these issues and we have often helped them here.

We could have given a number to call directly at Sprint Credit to reach reps and supervisors who are more flexible. This is not the same as talking to regular CSR's who are often woefully uninformed on many aspects of these plans.

Sprint has exempted low-cost plans from requiring applicants with identity proof issues from going to the store to show ID in many cases. Many reps do not know that.

The best way to deal with corporations now is different from what it used to be. People sometimes just are unaware that, through pooled and distilled user experience, we (and other social media forums) have more expertise at solving problems than you will get by calling Sprint. The same goes for other carriers in other forums dedicated to them, by the way.

Sure.
I assume her phone is under your Dad's SSN now. I assume her own SSN has not been used on Sprint in the last 45 days (if ever). That is the only requirement.

I have a Nexus 5X currently on Red Pocket (Verizon MVNO) that my kids use occasionally. I just ran through the online process of ordering the sim, and it looks like everything went smoothly.
