Sure, if this plan is still offered in 45 days (which is up in the air).
Better to instead get a spouse or family member to use their SSN to open a new plan to share with you, for which there is no delay required at all.
The reason most people do not use VZW prepaid as much is just that it costs more than say TMO Prepaid.

You couldn't figure that out by reading Note 2 in the wiki?Bash Or how bout Note 6Bash

Note 6: This offer will work with any number coming from AT&T, T-mobile, Verizon and all other non-Sprint networks including bandwidth.com,Google Voice, Freedompop and others. You must supply your carrier's account number and pin. Any eligible phone will work. It does not have to be tied to your ported number.

Note 2: For new customers only. If u are a current customer (with any other Sprint plan) , you will be considered a new customer again after 45 days of initial account closing.

shake head

I called sprint account services to get my port out information and they only provided me with the account number. When i asked for account pin, the lady on phone told me she wouldn't have that information.

I mentioned this is a standard information that every service provider provides when you are porting out, but she kept saying she can generate a new pin for account access. Not sure if she wasn't getting it or she wasn't providing info on purpose.

Anyone encounter this situation before? Is the pin to authenticate sprint account on phone, the same pin you provide for port out? If someone could show me the right path.

There was just a little miscommunication.
It is just the same account pin. It is used for porting out as well.
So they cannot give it to you for security reasons but can generate a new one as she said if you have forgotten it.

It's incredible that Sprint can't get as many port ins or new subscribers as any of the major carriers even when its free. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Was really enjoying my Z2 on the free UNL plan til today.
Suddenly this morning, the mute button appears to be stuck on. No one can hear me unless I put it on speaker. The mic appears to work on other apps, ie Google maps Waze.
Spent several hours with Sprint phone folks today. Has been escalated.Waiting for call back.
Has anyone experienced this?

It is not marketed or supported through stores or pushed through promoted ($$$) USA Today articles like KickStart was, so most people are totally unaware of it. One youtube video is not going to change that.

KickStart did fine at a higher price with advertising support.

But now that they added Dealer support and training costs to Kickstart, Kickstart may cost them a lot of money, even with the $10 increase.

The free plan may actually be more profitable (taking into account insurance plan revenue, phone "upgrade" sales etc) because it has much lower support and commission costs. It is an experiment in offering a plan without large marketing and support costs.

But clearly they are experimenting with these cost structures, having just added dealer support to KickStart.

Will they try some variations to this plan too? It would not be a surprise.

Guys if I want to do a second year, instead of buying the digital sim from ebay for tmobile, can I use an older tmobile sim I had before joining sprint? does it matter? Also when I call the tmobile rep to port the number in what do I say if they say why aren't you buying service? I just say I'm just porting the number for now?

Not sure about the sim, but when they asked me about my number, I told them that I needed to port it out from my previous service so that I didn't get charged for another month, but I did not have my new T-Mobile compatible device in-hand yet and I would add credit to the pay-as-you-go account online once I received it. They didn't seem to have a problem with that.
