PdaNet+ does NOT require a rooted phone. It'll work on an unrooted or a rooted device.

IF you have a rooted phone you can use this, it's worth it but it costs a couple of $:

https://play.google.com/store/app...r&hl=en_US

It does NOT work on unrooted phones.

As usual, ANY question one may have on this deal it has been answered in this thread. Just do a pointed and intelligent thread search, read and you'll find the answer pretty quickly.

What are the exact settings to use with PdaNet+, though? Over been searching for hours and can't find anything. I have an unrooted LG V20, if that matters. About to be stuck without any internet other than through the phone for at least 2 weeks, so it's pretty critical I get this working successfully.

suggestion:

get a new GV number.
unlock it
port into new S plan

all this can be done in 1-2 hours

then worry about ur actual number later

there is evidence both ways as to weather or not this will end in a few days

id play it safe and do what i outlined above
I have a non function phone, can I use it to open the S plan? Later on I can port over my actual line lines over with the current working phone?

So if I port over a google voice number to two old devices I have, can I then port my main number to those devices? And can I change then the number to my current newer device?

So porting the actual number later on is free?..
i think the 1st goal is to get in the plan, in the off chance it is not renewed.

the other stuff is secondary, if u do not have the plan now.
once u got the plan...in ~2 weeks time u have # ready from NB
so lets say options are:

1. plan is no longer offered
a. will S allow lines to added?
i. yes. then simply add an additional line using actual #.
once that is done cancel the original existing temporary GV #
ii. no. then try to port in actual # over existing temp GV #

if neither works, then u r no worse that if u did nothing today

2. plan is re new ed
a. i. then simply add an additional line using actual #.
once that is done cancel the original existing temporary GV #

Quote from daduderadu :
....Should I use a different SSN for the new plan or can I use the same one before the wrong plan is cancelled?
id play it safe.
id use another ss number if u had access to one.

a spouse, good friend etc

Quote from ultrasoul :
For A) existing customers whose 1 year BYOD plan is expiring and want to renew another year of free BYOD OR B) customers on Sprint MVNO's i.e. Tello/Ting/Virgin/Boost, the fastest easiest is to port out to T-mobile using $5 digital T-Mobile SIM card from eBay and port back in to Sprint for another year of free 1YR BYOD.

If you are existing Sprint postpaid customer in the last 45 days, you will need a new SSN (friend/ family). If you are porting from a Sprint MVNO you don't need a new SSN as long as you weren't a Sprint postpaid customer in the last 45 days.

1) First, have your Sprint/ Sprint MVNO account number and PIN ready. Ensure that you have a Sprint eligible phone and compatible Sprint SIM card (Sprint SIM can be reused)

2) Order the $5 digital T-Mobile SIM Card from eBay https://www.ebay.com/itm/232903327738. You will purchase 1 unique digital T-mobile SIM for each line you want to port as each digital SIM can be used only/ consumed only once.

3) You don't have to topup/ reload the Tmobile digital SIM. Once receive the digital SIM card number, call Tmobile customer care 1-877-778-2107 to port your sprint number to Tmobile. Just give them your Sprint/ Sprint MVNO acct number, PIN , phone number and T mobile SIM card number. If rep asks for an activation code tell them it is not necessary- only the SIM card number is needed.

4) Your number will be ported to T mobile in less than 5 minutes. Your Tmobile Account number will be your phone number prefixed by 1 Ex: 1 214-xxx-xxxx and the pin number will be the one that you setup initially during the porting or activation process. Note that for each line in Tmobile prepaid, it will be a separate account number i.e. the phone number of each line prefixed by 1 for that line. Again PIN number would be what you have set during number porting/activation for each line.

5) Wait for ~ 20 minutes to verify the completion of the T-mobile port and the cancellation of your Sprint account. Port is complete when your existing Sprint/ Sprint MVNO phone stops working (no calls/ no text/ no internet)

6) Now call back sprint telesales number 1866-782-8777 to sign up for the 1 year BYOD free plan and port back your number from Tmobile with a new SSN if you were an existing Sprint postpaid customer in the last 45 days.

7) After about 45 mins on the phone call, you are good to go for another one year. Verbally confirm that the representative waives the $30 activation fee per line as part of the promotion. In addition, ensure the rep DOES NOT add insurance on your phones to the billing- Sprint reps have been known to be unscrupulous and add insurance without your knowledge. Ask the rep to notate your account that you signed up for the BYOD 1 year $0 promotion for both lines in case the rep misapplied the promotion. In addition, ask the rep for your new Sprint account number and notate this down for future reference.
Successfully ported my number using the following steps, so thanks ultrasoul! I used an unlocked iPhone 8 Plus (paid full price through Apple) and my previous carrier was Virgin Mobile (Sprint MVNO) under the Inner Circle free 1 year plan that was going to expire at the end of this month so this was perfect timing. I jumped on it earlier than expected cause of the rumored end date of 9/13. I ordered the SIM card from that ebay link late last night and got the digital SIM this morning.

A few notes/observations:
For Step 4, the rep asked for what prepaid plan I was going to join so I just said "Pay As You Go"
For Step 5, make sure the rep has the correct account number as the first time around, the rep had a typo. (You can get your Virgin account # by calling customer service). You'll know it's completed if you can't make an outgoing call, or by checking your eligibility using your IMEI and phone # (https://www.sprint.com/en/shop/br...hone=byod)
For Step 7, it took just about 45 minutes. The rep will ask for typical sign up info (address, email, SSN (including SSN questions to verify identity), T-Mobile acct # & PIN, etc.). The rep waived the $30 activation fee but she insisted on adding the $13/month phone insurance which has no contract and can cancel anytime. As she kept insisting (probably to meet sale quotas) and I was being a sucka, I just accepted. After phone was activated, I created a Sprint account and easily cancelled the insurance through chat support and they confirmed I would not be charged anything for the insurance.

My Boost Moto E5 Play is arriving today. I've read that people had luck activating this for sprint 1 year free. I heard the trick is to keep the box intact and provide MEID and ICCID from the box instead. When I receive the phone, is it okay for me to punch in the device MEID on sprint website to see if it eligible? Or will performing that check make it ineligible? I am just looking to make sure I do not take any incorrect step to make this phone ineligible.

Anyone had luck to activate the Moto E4 verizon phone unlocked later using ebay codes?

I have called Sprint and they have said the IMEI is not listed as valid. They submitted a ticket to get it validated! I don't know how that works.

Anyone with experience with this can share please. Thanks

Just ported back in 5 lines that I had previously on the first BYOD deal. moved them to Cricket for 45 days. Came back in on day 39 (lenient CS rep) to beat the rumored ending of this deal tomorrow. Was not too painful of a CS experience.

Sweet deal since Sprint coverage in my area is actually descent.
