Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

Called this morning and got the same speech of trying to fix it, and it'll take 1-2 billing cycles. I'll try again tonight if not, I'll have to cancel before the 15 days are up .
Called who (just to be sure)? If you got that from Cancellation / Account Services specifically as I suggested, I am surprised but if so then I suggest email Sprint Senior VP Marci Carris [email protected] and she will fix it for you.

Note Account Services, contrary to widespread misunderstanding, is NOT related to Customer Service or Support which are completely different departments.

She handles customer complaints where people have tried the regular process and not got a proper response. Do not hesitate to do so.

For A) existing customers whose 1 year BYOD plan is expiring and want to renew another year of free BYOD OR B) customers on Sprint MVNO's i.e. Tello/Ting/Virgin/Boost, the fastest easiest is to port out to T-mobile using $5 digital T-Mobile SIM card from eBay and port back in to Sprint for another year of free 1YR BYOD.

If you are existing Sprint postpaid customer in the last 45 days, you will need a new SSN (friend/ family). If you are porting from a Sprint MVNO you don't need a new SSN as long as you weren't a Sprint postpaid customer in the last 45 days.

1) First, have your Sprint/ Sprint MVNO account number and PIN ready. Ensure that you have a Sprint eligible phone and compatible Sprint SIM card (Sprint SIM can be reused)

2) Order the $5 digital T-Mobile SIM Card from eBay https://www.ebay.com/itm/232903327738. You will purchase 1 unique digital T-mobile SIM for each line you want to port as each digital SIM can be used only/ consumed only once.

3) You don't have to topup/ reload the Tmobile digital SIM. Once receive the digital SIM card number, call Tmobile customer care 1-877-778-2107 to port your sprint number to Tmobile. Just give them your Sprint/ Sprint MVNO acct number, PIN , phone number and T mobile SIM card number. If rep asks for an activation code tell them it is not necessary- only the SIM card number is needed.

4) Your number will be ported to T mobile in less than 5 minutes. Your Tmobile Account number will be your phone number prefixed by 1 Ex: 1 214-xxx-xxxx and the pin number will be the one that you setup initially during the porting or activation process. Note that for each line in Tmobile prepaid, it will be a separate account number i.e. the phone number of each line prefixed by 1 for that line. Again PIN number would be what you have set during number porting/activation for each line.

5) Wait for ~ 20 minutes to verify the completion of the T-mobile port and the cancellation of your Sprint account. Port is complete when your existing Sprint/ Sprint MVNO phone stops working (no calls/ no text/ no internet)

6) Now call back sprint telesales number 1866-782-8777 to sign up for the 1 year BYOD free plan and port back your number from Tmobile with a new SSN if you were an existing Sprint postpaid customer in the last 45 days.

7) After about 45 mins on the phone call, you are good to go for another one year. Verbally confirm that the representative waives the $30 activation fee per line as part of the promotion. In addition, ensure the rep DOES NOT add insurance on your phones to the billing- Sprint reps have been known to be unscrupulous and add insurance without your knowledge. Ask the rep to notate your account that you signed up for the BYOD 1 year $0 promotion for both lines in case the rep misapplied the promotion. In addition, ask the rep for your new Sprint account number and notate this down for future reference.
Thank you for the detailed instructions. Got it for another year.
I followed most of the steps except I paid about $2.95 for digital sim as there is cheaper ones available now. Also, I used t mobile online site (https://prepaid.t-mobile.com/prep...wn-device) for porting but this cost me $3.26. one thing I found out was t mobile account number was not the same as phone number in my case but they emailed me the account number when I signed up. FYI, in step 6, sprint rep asked for last four digits of ICCID number.

If you port by phone call, the account is 1+your phone number. You set up a pin on the call. I asked to be emailed my information because I said I only had the SIM, but not the phone. The rep said that was not possible. Based on recent posts, if you port online, you set up the pin during the process and will receive an account number (unrelated to your phone number) by email.

Online activation cost $3, does phone activation require to pay $3?

I did not pay anything on any of my three ports by phone (all using the same virtual sim). Only one agent pushed hard on adding a plan. I just said that I didn't have my phone yet and planned to add funds when it arrived.

I also called early in the morning on a weekday and never experienced a long hold time.

Yes, contrary to people here who imply that Sprint is purposely delaying port-outs to get another billing cycle, it seems that most of these porting problems are not the fault of Sprint at all.
But it's hip to hate

Hoping someone here can help me. I read here that someone had successfully had the Moto G6 Play from Walmart on the free Sprint plan, had the device unlocked, then moved it to Mint Mobile.

I tried to do the same by putting in an unlock request with Sprint (yes it's been on Sprint for more than 50 days). After 72 hours nothing happened. So I chatted and was told that my phone was basically unlocked. Long story short, my mint mobile sim came a couple of days later than originally planned, so I had to port over to a digital tmobile sim so I didn't pay $60 for a month of Sprint. That went fine. The Mint Mobile sim arrived and I followed the online activation instructions, ported it over from the digital Tmobile SIm, and set up account. All is still fine. However, the Mint sim card says "invalid sim" when in my phone. The spring sim works just fine. Was my phone not actually unlocked after all of this? Sorry about the length, hoping to get some help.

Yeah, it was extended almost a month ago. Technically if anyone moved to this plan now, will get almost 14 months free.

You cannot unlock or inquire about unlock by Chat or by talking to Support..

Unlocks are handled by Account Services at 1-888-211-4727 and navigate the Voice Menus to get to Unlock. They are a special department for Cancellations and Unlocks only.

Maybe you did that but I cannot tell from your post.

Do it now and see what they say.

I requested my moto g6 play to be unlocked last Friday. As right now it's still locked. I might have to call again in a few days.

Thanks. Yes, I initiated the unlock by phone. I only checked on the status by chat. I did successfully port this out to a digital tmobile sim yesterday before trying to port it over to mint. So does that mean it was unlocked if I could port it to the digital tmobile sim?

I can call Sprint about it. But I no longer have an account with them so I don't know if they can still unlock it.

That's what I'm afraid of. I didn't have a ton of time, so once the three days passed I needed to port out to avoid a full month at $60. How do you check to see if it is still locked? Just try another sim card in it?
