Offtopic..Need help with Sprint essential unlock ..today ported from sprint essential to metro and before porting paid off lease but didn't unlock . Anyone has any idea whether I can call sprint to unlock my essential.. also my bill amount only is due (will it refunded even if I pay full) as I ported now.m
I emailed Marci's team (can't recall the exact email address at the moment) to request the unlock for my Essential after moving to Cricket. Basically told them I paid off the device and requested unlock but it didn't work. You may have to leave the Sprint SIM in it while connected to WiFi to get the unlock over the air. Worked for me. I didn't feel like getting the run around over the phone.

I provided the account number, IMEI of the phone, things like that. I had already ported out and paid off the account.

I did contact this guy mentioned. When I give him my IMEI and he does his flip, does that interfere with the phone currently being on Total Wireless? It's my sister's phone and the phone is at her house. I don't want to mess her service up. thanks.
Did he charge anything?

Wow this is big news! PROVIDED it is also $25 a line for just a single line (I think this is implied).

A big question is: Will people who have WiFi hotspot and HD video steaming included from being an early free plan subscriber be able to keep those? (these features are no longer offered to new free plan subscribers).

Also by the way, people can get an even higher end plan with hotspot and HD Streaming for not much more, $30 a month, via the SWAC offer, (requiring an easy to obtain employee referral from reddit or from another thread here) but that plan would require being off Sprint for 45 days to become a new customer, or havng a different SSN.
Update: I called the number on the email to confirm that the 10gb hotspot is included. The CS I spoke with said yes. Confirmed all plan features will continue.

I have credits on this account so it will not cost me anything out out pocket to see what actually happens 11/1. If any problems, I can bail and move phones to husband's free plan.

Unfortunately, I wasn't aware of SWAC offer until after husband set up free plan on his SSN.

Unfortunately? Your retention offer appears to be SWAC minus $5 per month. Confused

Here is the email I sent...

"Good morning. I have called multiple times this week requesting my Essential PH-1 be unlocked for domestic use, and I have been told it will be unlocked automatically 48 hours after it is paid off. The phone is no longer on a plan with Sprint and I paid the phone off last Friday (06/29/18). The Sprint SIM card is still inside but if I change the SIM card to a different Carrier's SIM card I get a "Invalid SIM" message. I am hoping someone from your team can help me. The device is powered on and connected to WiFi with the Sprint SIM card inside."

and minus some features included in SWAC.

I agree that some might prefer one or the other plan. I agree though, I might go with the $25 plan offered to free plan users ending this promotion if I was sure that it REALLY includes the hotspot and HD video streaming.

I would like to see detailed explicit confirmation that 10 GB hotspot and HD streaming are REALLY included in the $25 plan offered to free plan users ending this promotion, since they are no longer included in the free plan for new users. Just a rep saying they are means next to nothing because they guess wrong all the time. I am suspicious they may NOT be included. After all, they are not in $25 Kickstart.

Here is what is in SWAC:
https://www.sprint.com/en/shop/swac

Advantage Club members get unlimited data, talk, and text nationwide. It's the same benefits as the Sprint Unlimited Plus plan for only $30/mo. with AutoPay.
All your TV in one place with Hulu
Music streaming with TIDAL Premium
15GB LTE Mobile Hotspot so you can keep all your devices connected
Streaming in HD
In Mexico & Canada, enjoy Unlimited talk & text and 10GB of 4G LTE data
Global Roaming in nearly 200 worldwide destinations.

That's good but I might want to get it in writing that the 10GB hotspot and HD video streaming is included.
Otherwise they will quite likely refuse to honor it if the rep was wrong (which they are about 50% of the time).

On the other hand, the letter did say "all features you have now", so maybe it is included. If so, it is a truly great offer!

I think you could probably hold them to that since it was in writing. So maybe best wait and see.

It is a judgment call whether to ask for it in writing or not because it might hurt to do so if it leads them to reconsider.

For people that have done the free 2nd year of sprint, how long without a phone do you go during the whole process (Sprint -> Tmobile -> Sprint)?

This is my only phone line and can't be without a phone for long.

Already have the deal since May 2018. Phone broke. No one at the listed numbers can assist with where to get a new phone that works with the plan. Sprint store said not to buy a phone from them or it will change the plan. I was also told not to get one online from Samsung. I just need a new phone!

I decided to get on chat to see what they say. After I explained about the email and what I was told over the phone, and that for peace of mind I would like to know what my cost will be after 11/1. This is the response:
AF. : Yes sure! On the 11/01 the plan rate for the new plan for the 2 lines on the account will be $25.00/line/mos.
You : And that includes hd streaming and 10gb mobile hotspot?
AF. : Just disregards that notification that you are seeing on your dashboard, you have my word that the plan charge on the account on 11/01 will be the $25.00/line/mos. Indeed you will continue to enjoy all the same plan features like the unlimited everything, HD Streaming and the 10GB mobile hospot.
I think this is YMMV because the email came after I had already moved a line off the account and responded to a questionaire about why I left, stating the price point I was looking for and the service that I wanted.
