Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

Thank you for the info. Any guess as to when that might happen for the S9+ based on how quickly it happened on the S8?
It should have happened already by that standard but has not. I would ask Samsung. There must be some problem they are having in delivering brand switching for S9.

Once they do, Sprint will quickly enable all the IMEIs. They would love to have those customers.

S8/+ brand switching firmware was released in December 2017(phone released April 2017). So guess maybe November(S9 released March 2018). Although you never know with Samsung updates. There also could be push back from carriers since they want to lock you in.

I got another month left with Mint, then I'll try a month with Redpocket (AT&T). Hopefully that gives Samsung enough time to push out the update for me to switch to Sprint. Then maybe I'll hit up Verizon when I'm done just to do them all lol

Oh good - You did a better calculation than my rough estimation, which was a little off.

Why involve the LG at all if you can avoid doing so? If you do swap, do an imei swap from dashboard and or chat. Do not use terms like "change in device."

I would suggest just activate the iPhone directly once you get it off Sprint (you can port the number out to say TMO prepaid to get the phone off immediately).

I assume you are aware that you need a different SSN than what was in use on Sprint postpaid.

Prime objective has to be get the LG returned to the store quickly and with as little use as possible. So do not use it as all if you do not need to.
Thanks for the tip.

Yes, I am aware I need different SSN. I already placed order and signed up for BYOD plan, but haven't received LG phone yet. Sprint will probably send it pre-configured, so my concern is if I try to switch to my existing IPhone and return LG, I could lose BYOD plan.

If someone has done this, I would appreciate step by step what I should do once I receive phone from Sprint. IMEI switch you mentioned is foolproof?

A lot of these Moto and other generic phones will not support Sprint features such as Wifi Calling and soon VoLTE. Also Visual VoiceMail.

I know that people are seeing the Moto G6 Play rejected when purchased from the Boost web site, but if the ones from Walmart are still accepted, and that has been the indication, I would try those, especially if you can test out the IMEI in the store. Some have been able to do so and also got price match.

I speculate that Boost is blocking them only when shipping them themselves directly at retail, so that the Walmart and other ones may stay be ok. I cannot guarantee this but I personally would try it.

Failing that I would at least look for some Sprint model of something.

Are people really willing to write off Wifi Calling, Visual Voicemail, maybe soon VoLTE, maybe roaming so casually by buying generic Android models? Probably write off Wifi Hotspot too if a successor of this plan adds it back again? For example, the SWAC plans have Wifi Hotspot, or you might be able to get it in a retention offer (some people were promised it).

Of course, higher end universal models such as branded (but brand=switching) S8 are completely ok but much higher priced.
Thanks for the response. What does "test out the IMEI in the store" mean and where do price match to?

What's the best $100 to buy for this? I got 3 tmobile lines and one lines phone doesn't qualify. It's for my mother in law...... she's in her 70s.

The price match would be to the boostmobile.com website. I believe they still have the phones on sale. Pull up the sprint.com website on your phone and click the get started from the original post, then with the Box in hand input the IMEI from the label on the box before you actually purchase it.I'm mobile right now but Comintel can actually send you a link to check that IMEI

The Moto G6 play is a great phone as discussed in the post above and below yours.

I get that no upgrades are allowed for 120 days, but after that period, do you qualify for promotions, like 18 or even 24 monthly credits for the iPhone? On the BYOD plan now for almost a month, but would love to upgrade to an iPhone XS or XS Max in a few months if I can get hte promo pricing (with trade-in). Thanks.
