Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

According to Apple there is only 1 model of the XS (A1920), 1 model of the XS Max (A1921), and 1 model of the XR (A1984) sold in the USA. Therefore, it looks like the only thing you have to worry about is it unlocked?

Is this correct?

My paid off unlocked Sprint iPhones SE work on ATT and T-MOBILE but Verizon would not accept them. Not sure if there was a hardware difference

The sprint version of iPhone XS is 100% unlocked and works with ATT AND Verizon.
If buying at an Apple Store, get the non-branded No Carrier model.

Does anyone have a good hotspot app recommendation? I've tried WifiTetherrouter, PDANet, and USBTetherRouter, but had issues with all of them on a rooted Moto G4.

Just a couple of requirements:

1) Prefer that it work with USB tethering, but wifi would be ok if required
2) Needs to be able to autostart upon phone reboot
3) Needs to be able to support other devices (like a Roku)

Had this working great with the BYOD plan that had tethering on it, but looking for a replacement on the current plan. If I need to switch to a different phone I can do that, just need something solid.
WifiTetherrouter works great on Moto G4. I have used it before. Wifi hotspot stayed on 24/7. I stop using it because I was trying to replace the battery and damaged the wifi antenna. Use MacroDroid to automate hotspot.

does that mean if I should want to leave and go with another carrier such as Verizon are my phones now locked to Sprint and would I have to abide by their unlocking terms which would require that I have to stay on their network at least 50 days ?
Nope, definitely not. Will never happen to Verizon branded phones.

I read that Verizon was going to start locking iPhones? Can I pay in full for Verizon one and put sprint sim into it to make it unlocked?

Verizon and Sprint use CDMA differently. So sometimes, Verizon will not white-listi a phone from Sprint that might not work well for voice.

But since there is only one XR model, it will be whitelisted by Verizon as long as it unlocked?

Well, maybe. Just buy the Sprint version IF there is no non-branded version of the Xr.
