You're not supposed to let store activate the phone for you in store. I've upgraded to 2 essential phones and 1 moto z2. Many other did the same and still keeping the free plan.
Not sure if you were trying to switch the sim with a leased phone or bought one outright. If it was a lease, I'm not sure how you did it. The system blocked changing the BYOD sim to a leased device.

Either way I am glad you were successful. I'm just warning other folks who had plans to switch to a newer (leased phone) part way through the year. Maybe there is some trick to it, but I was quite unsuccessful. I even contacted support after the fact and was told it was impossible to do.

It's written in ToS. You are allowed to upgrade after 120 days. Only by online and call in.

Thanks but Isn't MetroPCS/Cricket going to cost me at least $80 per month (for 2 lines)? Is there any way I can trade my ATT iphone 7 for a compatible iphone?
If you don't mind the hassle of eBay/swappa you can buy Sprint compatible versions, then auction your ATT models later.
Some people loathe this idea because of the scammers on the Bay. Swappa is better in that regard.
Other option if you're interested in swapping to Android is LG G6 or Moto z2 force open box, or NIB, then auction off the iPhones later. Good luck

I was always afraid of upgrading my phone because of losing the byod plan. The service however isn't great but I'm also missing band 41 on my unlocked att iPhone se. I'm still more than happy having my credit card charged $3.66 a month for phone service instead of the usual $30 for mteropcs. Sprint customer service is below garbage tier but so is att's.
Band 41 can make a big difference in usability depending on region as has been said many times. Just saying

They waive it.
I just added my main phone to my account today. Took a total of 30 mins to get the phone working. I find these CSR pretty pleasant to work with. 2 months before this deal ends, I'll be checking if my phones are locked or not. Last year, they locked them and it was a hassle trying to port out too close to the end of the deal.

Sprint service is really bad on my iPhone and I'm considering to transfer my number to Verizon. Sprint told me that I can't transfer out my number before a year! This is something I didn't pay attention to! What are my options?

Wow! How come this agent insisted that I have to pay full price for the plan if I port out my number!

Can I get a Sprint version on Iphone 7 from a third party like Gazelle/Swapa and use it after porting my number from ATT to Sprint as part of this deal?
I assume you can, but you probably want to get the phone's imei first before purchasing it and run it through Sprint's checker to make sure it can be used on the BYOD program. Personally I would just buy a new unlocked moto phone and hold onto your iPhone 7's for a year, or trade in your iPhone 7's and purchase an unlocked version on apple's site.

Their service sucks in my area according to neighbors. One size does not fit all. Mind your business and move along kiddo.

I went to the nearest Sprint store and the sales person over there said that I could trade in my ATT iphone 7s and get the Sprint version of the Ipone 7s (pre-owned) and still use the BYOD $0 plan.. Is this information correct or was he trying to get me switched to Sprint then and there?

Thanks,

RB
